I mentioned a while back ago of a Longhaul truck being on the side of I-5..I finally got a pic of him.

There he is, we are normally traveling at 70 mph so it's been really hard to get a pic of him, since you pass him REALLY quick, and it depends on lighting. We mostly pass him by at night, but we left early enough that day. So I got him in the late afternoon. Yaaaay.

What am i looking at here? An abandoned toy? A real truck coloured like a Constructicon? If it's a toy, you need to stop, backtrack, and get it.

Yeah, it's in Oregon. Been there for years. Nice pic, man. I wonder what the story is.

Today, on the 4th of July, I fulfilled my lifelong ambition to hang out with a real live Decepticon. Just chillin', watching the traffic go by on I-5.

I was able to find out a little bit about it. Apparently, the owners of the rock quarry that he perches above bought him as is- that is, he came with the Decepticon logo already painted on him way back around 1984. They didn't know what TFs were (at the time) and have never bothered to change it since. The dump truck itself is burnt out & unusable, which is why it's sat in the same spot, unmoved for decades.
The 'con logo is only on the one side- something I never knew until today. I was hoping to get a pic with my wife & son in the pic too, but there's really not much space to stand on in front of him & the rocky, man-made hill isn't exactly the safest to be taking newborns out onto. So for this year, just me in the pic. I kinda love the idea of making a yearly pilgrimage to visit Longhaul.
And contrary to what anyone may say, this is definitely Longhaul & not any other green dump truck that has come down the line in the fiction since then. Since this truck first appeared shortly after the original show began airing, it can only be Longhaul. :)

I have some more, but I'm going to wait until I get home so I can properly rotate them.

    Cool!

Was expecting just *a* dump truck that kinda sorta looked like Long Haul that simply happened to be driving by (like how kids at aquariums point out literally any blue fish as "Dory"). Glad to see it was the real deal!

Ah, and it's a proper G1 Decepticon logo too, not the movie one.

And here we go! The rest of the pics.

Front view: we climbed up the loose rocks & through the berry vines & thistle you see here.

Back view (my wife skulking up there with me). You can also just see some traffic going by down below. I should've gotten a shot of the view from up there- it was really incredible.

The side no one ever shows- no Decepticon symbol on the passenger side.

Last shot: he's really a nice 'con once you get to know him. Lifelong ambition- fulfilled!

From this angle it almost looks like a photo of a toy taken up close to make it look life size. This is pretty awesome and I wish we had something that cool hanging out around here. I've seen a few drivers on the road with 'con stickers or license plates but never one representing Autobots... Hmm...

EDIT: Holy crap, just saw the pictures directly above my post. Definitely not a toy xD (Well, a small one at least. I'm sure we could all still have fun in it.)

That is so cool! I remember back in 1985 coming from a out of town trip. I did see green tractors working on I35 here in Texas. Never knew there actually green construction tractors.
