So I went to see the Star Wars exhibition in London today at that big town hall place near the wheel that the GLC used to use. Despite it being populated by parents with noisy kids and folks who were just walking around taking photos without actually looking at stuff, I managed to get a look at everything and there was some awesome stuff to see - Star Wars - Death Star surface tiles Two sizes of Turbolaser Towers Reproduction Stormtrooper, Vader and C-3PO costumes A plasticy looking reproduction R2-D2 Mouse Droid The protocal droid costume with the insect style head Empire - AT-AT Larger scale AT-AT leg Two sizes of Snowspeeder Giant asteroid worm Wampa head Star Destroyer officer costume, probably reproduction Boba Fett costume Han Solo carbonite slab Yoda, not sure if it was original or not but it looked good enougth ROTJ - Leia Bikini and Boushh disguise costumes Lando skiff guard disguise costume Imperial Royal Guard costume Weequay Skiff guard costume Skiff model with main character figures A couple of other palace alien masks whose race names elude me A shedload of small concept statues for Jabba and assorted palace aliens Detailed Star Destroyer bridge tower from space battle Ewok glider Tie Interceptor B-Wing A-Wing Death Star shield generator dish Full size speeder bike Model speeder bike with Luke Rider Ewok Costume Vader mask parts from his death scene There was also framed concept art and storyboards in some of the corridors as well as a load of prequel stuff that I wasent really interested in. I was disapointed that there were no full Star Destroyer models or a Falcon, but it was still worth going to see what was there and I recommended it for any UK mofos into Star Wars. The entry fee is an extortionate £18, but its not like your likely to see this stuff again in the near furture.
Does the Leia Bikini sit on a circa 83' Carrie Fisher? If not, then the majority of the appeal is lost to me. I kid. Mostly. If I have the time I'm gonna go check it out.
That sounds like the Magic of Myth exhibit that toured the US a few years ago. I went and saw it in Chicago and Minneapolis.
Wait, how was some of that stuff in London AND LA at the same time for Celebration IV? I think the Flux Capacator in the other thread has something to do with it.
Yeah, the Star Wars exhibit they had roaming the states a few years back sounds like it had some of this. Amazing stuff and really worth checking out, if you have the opportunity.
