Hello all, A few thoughts have come up lately about Lockdown, and so I wanted to see what you all think. A couple discrepancies have been pondering in my mind...namely these two: 1. If Lockdown is a "mercenary/bounty hunter", why does the latest AOE apparel list him as a "Decepticon"? 2. What is Lockdown's primary objective? We presume it is to capture/kill Optimus Prime, yet we see his ship wrecking Hong Kong. Was he hired to aid in the "human extinction" that Optimus said as well? Ready, set, DISCUSS!
1. Could be because he's the "bad" guy and sometimes with kids and transformers, the bad guys are always the Cons. 2. We don't know. Many think he's after Optimus because either the remaining Cons want him dead because of the death of Megatron or Lockdown wants to destroy the matrix and is possibly Unicron's herald.
It wouldn't make any lack of sense if he was a decepticon. In "Transformers Animated" He hunted and got supplies in return. So in my strong opinion he wouldn't assist the humans. I believe he was sent by Unicron. or something much greater
I guess, but then that's like saying Boba Fett was a stormtrooper or a character that only worked for the empire.
1) I suppose technically he's not a Decepticon - since the Decepticons were actually wiped out as an organization. All the leaders are dead. But for marketing purposes, and because the bad guys are always Decepticons unless it's Beast Wars....simpler to just call him a Decepticon. Besides, he's working for somebody and putting "Agent of Unicron" or "Quintesson Assassin" on the box (whichever it ends up being) would sort of spoil things. 2) He's clearly after Optimus Prime. We know that Prime has a bounty on his head, because there's footage of him talking about it. Most likely, this is because of the Matrix. Whomever is the real big bad, the Quints or Unicron, they would want the Matrix. Unicron fears it, and the Quints want to control it. Wiping out the humans is probably just Lockdown's method of getting Prime to come out of hiding. He's a cold bastard.
1. same reason lockdowns animated figure has a decepticon symbol. hell, same reason the dinobot figures have autobot symbols.. there are good guys, and bad guys, it's that simple. 2. he was clearly hired to do more than just capture prime.. at least that's how i see it. perhaps it's the same old alien theory.. rid the world of humans so the planet is free for new tenants.
Let me just throw this in here, does anyone remember Sideways from Transformers Armada? He was neither Decepticon or Autobot and he actually worked for Unicron. Now, I am not one of those people that wants Unicron to be in the movie, BUT Lockdown being a bounty hunter does make him factionless, and could very well be influenced by Unicron. Just some food for thought there guys.
1. Lockdown is technically a neutral character, but since he's the/a "bad guy" of AoE, merchandise has him labeled a Decepticon. 2. As someone else said, he could be attacking Hong Kong to draw out Optimus Prime.
Dont think hes here for optimus i think he just captures him because hes in the way. I think he is here for the e jet. I think thats the prize.....maybe its sentient....but has a dark spark.
Like Bay said, Lockdown is after 1 person, 1 alien and he's out of here. My productions, Su Yueming and Optimus.
