I was really let down by the lack of accesories Lockdown came with. For a character that was basically addicted to upgrades he only came with that hook hand thing and the EMP blaster (mine doesn't even work right) So I decided to take matters into my own hands by making a socket joint in his "upgrade arm" for Xevoz parts. This upgrade is amazingly simple, which surprised me (though my hand did slip and now his right hand falls off- but that's my own problem)All you'll need is a dremel and maybe some sandpaper. Basically all you have to do is: 1- Remove the hook hand. It seems to just be attached to tiny pegs, so you can probably just yank it pretty hard. I didn't know this myself so I had to hack it off, but either way IT WONT BE REUSABLE ON THIS FIGURE- we'll get to the reason why in a few steps. 2- File down the compartment where the hook was stored in vehicle mode. Most ball joints should fit in there already, but its a very tight fit and they'll likely pop out so I strongly suggest doing this either way. You'll need a dremel to get into this tiny area. 3- File down the area where the hook's attaching pegs are. This will render the hook unusable, leaving a li'l gap in the alt-alt mode Again, a dremel will likely be needed, but sandpaper should do in a pinch. 4- File down the front of the upgrade-arm. This will make it easier for larger Xevoz pieces to fit directly forward and not pop out as often. You can just use sandpaper for this. 5 (optional)- Since some Xevos pieces are really heavy, they might cause the lower arm to droop. Applying some glue in the lower arm socket should solve this problem. This upgrade is really quick and simple. It took me maybe 15 minutes besides letting glue dry, and it really adds alot of playability to the character.
Thanks! I'm surprised no one's done this before, but hopefully this'll give people the motivation I love Xevos. They're great for spare parts, and were pretty darn fun to play with in the first place. I heard rumors of petitions going around the web to bring them back- they were such an awesome line of toys.
Wait... if I'm understanding this right, you could do this to both arms, and then just replace both hands with Xevoz hands, right? I guess you'd have to remove them to transform him though... hm. zmog
I did this to the removable attachment to his arm, where the hook and EMP blaster are stored (I just call it the "upgrade arm" ) I mean, you probably COULD replace his hands in his real arm(s) with Xevoz hands- it probably wouldn't be such a good idea, though :[
I couldn't agree more. Sometimes the best solution is the easiest one. (guh that sounds like a toy motto)
This is great. I still need to do this once I get a second Lockdown (I always mess up somewhere, and my brother wouldn't be too happy).
Very cool upgrade. Lockdown looks much better. now if I could only get motivated to finish some of my own customs.
