Most of the praise comes from the fact the character is so cool. IMO, the toy is nothing special. I think the best version of the character is ROTF Lockdown. Now THAT toy is amazing.
Did any of them fix the hand issue, or the falling-off leg issue? I have Blazing and transparent Lockdown, but never opened them. I love my original, but it was the only Animated figure I ever had much quality control problems with.
Anyone have the Takara version? I was thinking of picking up that one but I can't seem to find any details or good photos of it. I know most of the Japanese Animated figures got a shiny metallic paintjob, did Lockdown get that same treatment?
If by hand issue you mean the weird angled hands, they were apparently intended to be like that so every version of the mold has them the same way (even the upcoming stunticon Wildrider!) I don't know what the leg issue is (well, falling-off is pretty descriptive though) but at least mine (blazing version) has perfect, problem-free legs, so they might have fixed whatever problem yours had.
I would get both. If you can only get one though go for the original as it is the first and most accurate portrayal of the character. Both are on HTS. The original is $9.99 and Blazing is $5.99. HasbroToyShop.com Search Results Page
Just got the Takara version and I don't see any differences between it and the US version. No shiny metallic paint anywhere, no extra details that I can see. Pretty much the same figure. Much tighter joints, so that's a plus. In any case, I would advise against getting this version since it's considerably more expensive. Now to fix the hands...
Does anyone have an ROTF lockdown with an arm that DOESN'T pop off straight from the box? I tried several thin layers of clear coat, it doesn't seem to make much difference. My 'OG' is fine...Blazing is a bit shaky tho.
