Live-Action 'Fullmetal Alchemist' Movie in the Works in Japan | Spinoff Online | TV & Film News Daily Great news for FMA fans.
Japanese adaptations are usually better than American ones, it'll depend on the level of special effects and the actors, but the plot will be closer to the Manga. There have been a few decent ones, and there have been other where the effects held it back.
no matter how bad this movie will be it'll be better than what Hollywood would do, for example they would just call the movie "Fullmetal" and turn the alchemist into wizards or make a love triangle between Ed, Al, and Winry.
This is going to not end well, live-action adaptation of anime Hollywood or not. I think it's kind of amusing Edward's going to be played a by a twentysomething boy band member.
Eh. Attack on Titan was botched pretty horrifically, and the effects were fine. FMA is going to run into a similar problem. Just like AoT, FMA has a European setting. It's highly doubtful they'll have the budget to film on location.
A twenty something year old boy band member? If that dude isn't pint sized then......he's not a very good adaptation of Edward. Besides, him being short was part of the comedy in the series.
Unless Japan decides to actually cast white people for the majority of this, it is going to suck just as much as the AoT movies.
People love to rang on AOT witch I haven't seen yet, but I bet that movie is better than Dragonball: Evolution.
Fuck you, Japanese studios! The fact they're trying to do this to one of the greatest stories ever told (No, not Brotherhood, I'm talking about Classic) is apalling. Oh no, they're just as bad. I remember hearing AOT even had a sex scene during a fight scene. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.
Except Brotherhood is the classic one since the manga is the true version. The first anime is just fanfiction.
Then I'll take the fan-fiction over the "true" version any day. Just because it's not exactly the same as the Manga, doesn't mean it's inferior. In this case, it was quite the opposite, in my opinion. You and I have discussed this before, and I feel no need to dive into it any further. You enjoy and prefer Brotherhood, I enjoy and prefer Classic. Let's move on now.
Seen neither, but I loved the manga and that's the true version to me. But I do know of the weird stuff the original anime did like transporting Edward to the real World War 2 and seeing Hitler and I think there's a plot of making a rocket to get back to his original universe or something?
Oh I know, but I was just stating what the real classic actually is. Classic means original source, which is the manga.
They better follow the 2009 anime/manga. I want to see Mira Olivier and Greedling dammit! Wiemar Germany actually (pre-WWII and before HitlerĀ“s rise to power). I never seen the other version nor do I intend to and I will skip the movie if it follows that version. The fact that lacks two of my favorite characters from the series is a major turn off.
Spoiler Yes, the original series sends Edward Elric to our Universe, due to the fact it's on the other side of the Gate, the source of the energy for Alchemy. I really like how the original series shows that the Amestrian army, the Army everyone rooted for, is pretty much the FMA-world equivalent of the Nazi Army, because it makes us question if the characters we loved, would have carried out immoral actions, which they did in Ishbal. It's much, much better than the "everything-is-happy" tone Brotherhood has, which really ruined the series in my eyes.
