If they just took the time to regard exactly what they were saying rather than trying to repeat what they think it is they'd realise it's the exact opposite of what they meant to say. And it's that lack of thought which cements their dumbness.

It's almost like when my younger sister says 'Forpers say' instead of 'For Pete's sake' and one time I questioned her on it and she told me she'd heard someone say it and just assumed that was what they'd said. It's like singing lyrics to a song you don't actually know the words of but just sing what it sorta sounded like.

My ex-boss used to do that, watch while I typed or read over my shoulder.

In the beginning it used to bother me but at the end I just ignored him to a point that I accidentally pushed him when I rolled my chair back for something.

 

I think this thread should be renamed "Things that annoy you" because most of the stuff here isn't "little."

 

1. Texting (and calling) while driving. Had a woman repeatedly exit into a turn lane, then pull back in front of me and when i finally could see her, she had her head down, texting. Fucking bitch. I don't want to die because you think you can multi-task.

2. People using the term "that's gay", especially young kids. to watch a Youtube video where a 10 year old calls a toy's flaw "extremely gay" or points at something and says repeatedly, "that's the gayest thing EVAH" infuriates me. it's as stupid as poor grammar/word misuse gets.

3. Some WWII veterans. Not all, just some. Over the years, me and my dad have ran into some who would look at my dad's hat (Vietnam Vet) and then feel entitled to remind my dad that Vietnam was not a war. not really anything. berated him for losing. My dad never lashed at them out of respect. but i once asked, you so stupid to think the VC used rubber bullets?

When you're trying to help someone with their computer over the phone/IM/whatever, and they seem incapable of following basic instructions.

I facepalm every time.

 

Those dumb girls in grade/High school who suck up to guys to do their work. And the dumb guy's who let them.

 

I've lost count of the number of times over the years I've attempted to teach my mother how to use a computer or change the channels on the satellite telly. She's utterly unable to hold the information in her head for more than a minute.
It's not annoying as such, more just frustrating.

 

I consider that another one. I say something the right way. "What does that mean?" Next, I say it in terms in preschoolers could understand and "What does that mean?" "If I dumb it down anymore, you would have dragged me down to your level and so long as I have breath in my body, I won't let that happen."

 

When I go to a friend's house and they do nothing but sit on the computer and show me videos or songs I'm not familiar with. Not only do I not have interest in most of the material, my poor social skills cripple me from trying to say "Sorry but I'm not interested, can we do something else?".  

 

People who think they can speak French when they can't, and think they speak it better than I do because they use a (very fake) Parisian accent.

Or people who make fun of my accent.
