I've been wondering about this, too..

    Correct me if I'm wrong:
I think Sony planned on releasing the G1 series, but canned the idea.
I only got season 1 and half of 2 on Rhino DVDs, and from what I've heard the Rhino versions have missing effects and a lot of 'errors' which were never in the original TV broadcasts.

If they ever release the complete G1 collection, remastered directly from the original source, then sign me up! I'd love to have the entire series. :3

Im happy with my tin box edition. Took some time to play it in english though. But i am happy with it. It seems that the dvds are the same as rhinos. Because they are a few errors. Im only on disk 1 and that was the beginning of the series. So i suspect there will be errors?!?!?!

Mind you, the original series had a ton of errors to begin with, it's not all Rhinos fault.

Also, Rhino's didn't have missing effects, it added effects.

    Not according to this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=_IiWe-pUzkk
Some noticeable lighting effects, explosions and glows were missing in the Rhino versions.

Example: At 4:01, when StarScream opened his chest/cockpit he removed a "chip", which can clearly be seen in the TV version and is completely missing in the Rhino release.

I, unfortunately, never got G1 on DVD when the discs were first out. Stupid me. So, I hope someone puts them out again. They should now that the movie is a mega hit.

That's a season one episode and those, from my understanding, are the only ones that have errors. The other seasons have no additional errors except the ones that were already in the original TV versions.

As for the main topic, Sony was going to re-release them remastered and all that cool crap, but they went under or were bought out or something and the fate of a G1 DVD re-release has been up in the air. Whether they actually scrapped the idea after the buy out I don't know.

Nevermind, I was thinking about someone else, not Rhino.

If you want real goofy-ness: http://zobovor.tripod.com/bloopers_cartoon.html

Bear in mind, some of the episodes are no longer available, but those that are, are bad enough.

Boy I'm glad I have all of G1 on DVD. I feel like those people that grew up with G1 who still have all the original toys that I'll never get except for some re-issues.

I'm not gonna say that I don't want them to re-issue the G1 DVDs, because that would be awfully hypocritical of me, but for now I feel special for having them all
