I'm not surprised, thats going to be one HUGE combiner if the voyagers actually combined

Perhaps they were worried about lawsuits about the giant combined version falling on little kids.

Considering how well engineered almost all of the first movie toys were, no need to panic. I'm sure it will look cool.

what are you talking about, non-transformable? Last I checked, a bulldozer doesn't look like an arm. Seems like there'll be some transforming going on there.

You know, we have no idea how they transform in limb mode.

It may very well be that they transform into limbs in such a way so as to not allow a robot-to-vehicle transformation on the deluxe scale (unless they want to severely impair one of the modes).

I'm running off the assumption that the biggun will be a core robot with vehicle and robot modes, and the limbs will all be vehicles that turn into body parts. It'd be great because the limbs won't be hindered by having to also turn into fully-articulated robots, and the deluxe versions won't be hindered by having to turn into (what I can only assume would be) fully articulated limbs.

Did i just hear the final death cry of the gestalts!

if they can't do this right then they shouldn't do any attempt at all. Travesty

This is what happens when you overcomplicate designs just to try to be badass. Extremely lame. Anyone else tired of movie news that gets you so pumped up you want to take a nap?

    It makes sense

This way, you could have the combined gestalt figure to represent that mode, and then a second set to represent each member of the team.

At least this is more confirmation the Constructicons will be in the movie.

    This would be cool.

Disappointing, but eh. If the deluxes are at least kitbashable it could turn out alright with some work.

Not hating it though- provided the vehicle-->limb transformation is at least involved in some way.

Wait so is this just in toys?? Or in the movie is he not going to have 6 individual personalities?? I'm not one to bitch, but I'd rather not have a (combiner) "That's what we call them here back in the 80s", than a Combiner that really isn't comprised of individual Transformers, thus he is more like a Nano Bot from hell.

I'm starting to suspect it will be very involved. After all, the movie won't be able to get away with tacking a construction vehicle onto the side of a larger robot, tacking on a hand and calling it an arm.

Come to think, I don't think it's possible for Hasbro to engineer a movieverse Devastator with limb transformations for all the components - it sounds to me like they're going with the best compromise.

I almost get the feeling that this might actually be a completely different toy to the actual official combiner toy we'll hopefully be getting. You know, the one that's made of deluxe and voyager figures that we were told about before.
Remember those kits that came out for the last film that came with a proto-form and a car that'd come apart and then attach to the proto-form like armor to create a figure that looks kind of like Bumblebee? I think that's what this is, and this insider is getting it confused with the actual combiner toy we're getting....I hope.

Cause to be honest, if that is what they end up giving us and calling a transformer conbiner...I'm not buying it. I'm usually one to give something a chance too, but...no. I wouldn't spend money on that crap.

Without having read the whole thread (sorry, it's a long one): I think anyone expecting typical 1 robot = 1 limb transformations is going to be disappointed.

It's likely less, "I'm the arm, he's the leg" and more "I'm a shoulder and a bit of the torso. This guy splits and becomes both forearms. That guy over there is the lower back and bits of the right leg..."
