So i basically made this list in response to Gogdog's primetime request, and i figured it merits a full-blown thread.

    25. Predacon Eyeball (Chain of Command)
    26. Predacon Spine (Plus One)
    27. Predacon Talon (Plus One)

I may or may not just unify the bone relics; my justification is that they are all different bones, therefore they get their own entries

Addendum for Cybertronian lifeform landings/discoveries on Earth:

    Scraplets (Scrapheap)
    Wheeljack (Con Job)
    Knockout (Deus Ex Machina)

    Fixed. :)

Also, shouldn't the Matrix and the Key to Vector Sigma be on here as well?

i didnt put those on there because the autobots were dead and carrying a plague,it wasnt really the focus, the focus was the cure. And the matrix and key weren't really macguffins because the characters didn't spend the whole episode trying to obtain them; they were just kinda there. I think a case can be made for the ship though

I wanted to do one of these lists for Beast Wars to see how many MacGuffins were in that show as well, and do a comparison with Prime.

Going by that criteria, I think the key would qualify, since the bots spent an entire episode trying to get to Cybertron to reload it.

Now if you make another list of items that have appeared in more than one episode, it would be much shorter. :p

well yea i get you, but my general format was an item that took place in a "Something new appeared, Let's all go get that" type setting, not so much "An item appears and it has significance"
i also included the cybertronian crash-landings because of people relating macguffins to other cybertronian things that just end up here as well, including bot landings. Oh, on that note, i added the cybertronian plague ship cuz i figured it does go along with that part
Lolz true :p  would you count mentions or just actual appearances?

    I don't agree with everything.

But I'm surprised Raf wasn't somewhere on the list.

    According to tvtropes, a macguffin is only a macguffin is it has NO effect on the story whatsoever, other than the fact that both sides want it. If it has a function and the function is utilized to affect the outcome, it is no longer a macguffin, it is a plot device. Based upon this, i make the following revisions;

So as we can see, TF: Prime is filled with alot more plot devices than actual macguffins.

You mean the D.N.G.S., it's an acronym for Dynamic Nuclear Generation System. Fowler just called it what sounded like "dingus" because it's hard to pronounce something with no vowels.

I think we officially can stop with the fetch-quests. The characters of this show deserve better.

Yes that's what i meant, i just find the 'dingus' spelling funnier :)

I did, tweeted him the link last week :)

Well i obviously wasn't going by dictionary definitions, Darkscream ;)  The basic setup that I took from Gogdog was this "Somebody please make a list of every time a Cybertronian artifact or being has landed on earth, because this has happened so many times that we can't just remember them all offhand"

So i went back and found that every time an item was the center focus of some plot in an episode and i listed that item. I also put an addendum for cybertronian plot contrivanc--er, i mean crash landings :)

The plot device thing is a grey area, because the Matrix was clearly a plot device but im hemming and hawing over including the Key to vector sigma, because that was clearly an item that affected the plot, but it wasn't something that people were trying to get, it was already in their grasp, which was my logic for why it didn't make the cut.

I'm not really going for by the book definition of macguffin, nor did i mean to.. I don't know if that's ignorance on my part; if it is, i apologize, but beyond that i don't care. Thi is a general list of items that have appeared on TF: Prime. I will continue to update it if and when new Macguffins (or plot devices) appear.

    ......um.........why?:sly:
Agreed. I hope starting with Legacy that they ramp up the epic-ness and hold off on the relic hunt for a little while at least.

Lolz one thing at a time man :p

Except 4/5ths of those never saw use outside their debut episode. They're still Macguffins because they really didn't add anything to the story. Almost all of them and their effects were countered/undone almost immediately. The Energon Harvest, Polarity gauntlet and Immobilizer were never seen again.

By your deffinition simply appearing counts as effecting the story, which is obviously untrue in regard to the trope.

I think the list should be color coded to take into account what was destroyed/killed btw. Like the shield generator.

    Ex:

    Destroyed/Dead
    In play/Alive

    Season 1
    1. Regular Energon (Darkness Rising Part 1)
    2. Dark Energon (Darkness Rising Part 2)
    3. the Dingus (Convoy)
    4. the Energon Harvester (Deus Ex Machina)
    5. the Polarity Gauntlet (Metal Attraction)
    6. the Immobilizer (Partners)
    7. the Cybertronian Data Cylinder (T.M.I.)
    8. Synthetic Energon/ Synth-En (Stronger, Faster)
    Season 2
    9. the Spark Extractor (Operation Bumblebee Part 1)
    10. Knockout's force field generator (Operation Bumblebee Parts 1 & 2)
    11. the Forge of Solus Prime (Operation Bumblebee Part 2)
    12. the Phase Shifter (Tunnel Vision)
    13. the Apex Armor (Triangulation)
    14. the Resonance Blaster (Triage)
    15. Toxic Energon/ Tox-En (Toxicity)
    16. Red Energon (New Recruit)
    17. the Damocles satellite (The Human Factor)
    18. the Star Saber (Legacy)

Addendum for Cybertronian lifeform landings/discoveries on Earth:
    Skyquake (Masters & Students)
    Scraplets (Scrapheap)
    Wheeljack (Con Job)
Knockout & Breakdown (Deus Ex Machina)
    Airachnid (Predatory)
    Cybertronian Plague Ship (Sick Mind)
