I'm trying find a list of any/all TF's made from clear or translucent plastics. Anyone know of such a list (or maybe has this info stored in their noggin' just waiting to be typed up?)

The only ones I can think of:

    Binaltech Clear Mirage
    e-Hobby Ghost Starscream
    e-Hobby Crystal Hot Rod
    Robotmasters Burning Convoy

I know there are many more......

^ Hrm. I was under the impression those were "lunchtime specials" in regular packaging. How were those released?

    They are test shots
There is no such thing of lunch time specials.
It takes work to make a toy and you cant just work off with a prototype or steal parts and such.

I take it you've never been a factory supervisor, either that or you work at Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory :p

I take it this list is for entirely clear figures, not ones which have an excessive quantity of clear plastic as part of their decos? If not, a considerable chunk of the Beast Machines line could possibly qualify...

Nomenclature aside, if they didn't have some sort of release -- whether it be mass retail, convention/store exclusive, or Lucky Draw -- they don't count as official products to me.

    YMMV, of course. :)

If you want to include the clear primes (clear colored(who Ultraconvoy outbid me on, grr) and regular clear), there are clear versions of every reissue and are at least three for tracks (clear red, and clear blue, and regular clear), two for Skids (clear blue and regular clear), two for Prowl ("clear blue, and regular clear), 4 for Sideswipe (regular clear, clear red, clear yellow, clear blue) and many more. However, and not to get anyone angry(no offense UltraConvoy), I don't think these are official prototypes/testshots, but to each his own I suppose. One thing I am sure of though, is that all these clear versions are from the newer G1 stuff. Original G1 protos were never cast in clear.

I've worked in several factories producing all sorts of different plastic products at Ventra plastics (my cousin is the day shift supervisor) as well as machine parts at a place called Laycore, I know how they work, and how easy it is to make what ever you want in as little as 15 minutes, there's no "hiding" or "secrecy" to it.; If I wanted to make orange weather control dials for a car, instead of silver ones, its amazingly easy. Just gotta watch out for the higher ups, but they are hardly ever around

But then again, maybe the places I've worked have been different, I've never worked in China, so I don't know how they work over there, but they can't be much different from here

Yes, Casting various individual parts would probably be doable quite easily, you're right. But in the case of a TF or any other product that requires a fair amount of assembly... <shrug>

I guess you could call it a "test piece" and the factory workers will just shrug it off and put it together for you :p .

Someone would probably be shot at our Japanese factory if it was found that they were mucking about and making their own stuff for fun.

    I failz zee reedingz!

Simple, just pop the pieces in your pockets and take em home, skipping the assembly and packaging lines completely. As you'll notice on every "lunch time special" the chrome pieces are always still chromed, because they don't dare tamper with those machines. It's only the color of the plastic/die-cast parts that are ever changed

unless you are producing knock offs, then you have time to switch whatever you want :)
