Does anyone here use Linux? I'm trying a live CD of Ubuntu and I must say that I like what I see so far. It seems very easy to use for a Linux distro. Has anyone else tried this and if so how did you like it.

  Yes and I absoutely love it. I can't say enough about Ubuntu. They have made a distro that could replace Windows on most PCs. The only time I use Windows now is for work and college. Otherwise I'm surfing in Linux goodness.:thumb

I tried out Debian on an older PC. On the one hand, I was pleased with its performance. It was faster and more stable than Windows. It really gave the machine new life. I mean, it wasn't like turning a Pontiac G5 into a GTO or anything, but it was better.

On the other hand, I couldn't for the life of me get the wireless card to work for it, and in my attempts to get the card to work, I upgraded *everything* and ended up breaking Debian somehow. I also couldn't seem to upgrade Firefox. I couldn't reinstall Debian either, because the optical drive in that computer died. Oh well. Maybe other distributions are better/easier for upgrading software - and maybe things have improved for wireless card compatibility.

I've used to Ubuntu Live CD. It's fun and a nice change of pace at times, but not enough worth in it to move away from Windows.

Completely off-topic [sorry!] but everytime i see the name 'Linux' i read it as 'Linus' as in 'Linus and Lucy' and then i get the song stuck in my head. Again. I love that song.

    [Sorry!]

I've got OpenSuSe 10.1 Linux and I enjoy it pretty well. Has some minor issues, but it's not a bad OS.
