I have been waiting 3 yrs to get a new CD from them and when I do...

Well, it isn't nearly as good as Meteora, but it isn't all bad. I suppose I was spoiled by the fact that I liked almost every single song on Meteora, even the songs that were never released for play on the radio, but I gotta admit, it is a let down to wait that long and get this.

Why is it that every band that has a good sound feels the need to reinvent themselves, even when their stuff is still working? Metallica, Tool and now Linkin Park all tried something different and it only worked moderately (Tool) to not at all (Metallica).

Anyway, that is my rant for the moment. Anyone else either picked up the new Linkin Park or planning on getting it? What do you guys think?

I've only heard the CD launch party on the radio, but I liked everything I heard on that. I plan on getting the CD at lunch or on the way home.

I think it's an amazing album. I like it better than Meteora and every single track has kept my attention.

That lead singer has about as much charisma as a wet noodle. Watch him on youtube with Slash and Duff trying to sing GnR stuff.

Isn't Mike Shinoda doing vocals in like 3 songs only on this album?

I found their previous work to be much better.

This new one isn't bad, but it could definitely be more intense and could include some giutar riffs and scratching. "Bleed it out" should have been at least 3 minutes long. Not their best offering.

They need to stick with their previous sound. Their previous albums all worked great! This is just too mellow and watered down...

They went from 100 songs, broken down to this. I wonder what the other songs sounded like. At least they've got material ready for more albums.

There's a track out on YouTube called "QWERTY." Here's a link. It's a live recording, and they mention that it's a new song and that they're headed back to the studio to continue recording after the show. This was around August 2006, but for whatever reason the song didn't make the cut.

Personally, I think it's a great track, and I think it should've been on the final album.

    NOW THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!

Damn. They really should have put that on the album. Glad my friend let me borrow his copy. He'll be getting it back very soon.

Very "meh". I listened to it once and I think Mikes songs are the weak parts. He's too "hip hop" now. Maybe I'll find it catchier on the second listen.

Um yeah, that is a bit better. I like the hard stuff and this fits that bill nicely.

Meteora was perfect b/c it mixed the hard and the mellow stuff really well, so you had a bit of everything for whatever mood. The new album pretty much only has mellow, which isn't bad, but I really wanted something harder.

From my understanding, there may be a "special edition" or "extended edition" of the album that will include that track and a few others.

But I haven't seen that confirmed.

Reason as to why I put my reaction in CAPs. they need that hard sounding music. Seriously, the new album just falls short for me. It's too mellow. Anytime they get mellow just kills the mood you get from their songs. At least it was fine with "In the end" and "forgotten" because like you said, they still mixed in the hard aspect of their sound.

I sure hope so. Maybe then I'll think about buying their cd even if it's a bit of a let down.

I have yet to get "Minutes to Midnight." I'm a big Linkin Park fan. They are the first band that I've ever listened to that I actually like ALL of their songs. So how's the CD? Is it good?
