    Canadian? Last I checked, I've never heard myself, nor anyone with a "Canadian" accent speak like that.

    Well, Peter Lorre started his acting career in Austria and Germany, his main language was German (he went to a German school in Austria-Hungary and moved to Vienna at the age of 9).

    He left Europe and went to Hollywood in 1935 (after going to Paris in 1933 and London in 1934), where he met other colleagues (Marlene Dietrich, Billy Wilder, Bertolt Brecht etc.) who left because of the Nazis.

    I don't remember hearing him having any accent when he spoke German.
