I just happened to catch a glimpse of this on my msn. Apparently Segway is coming out with the Puma. Similar idea to the original segway but this new and improved version does not require the rider to needlessly burn valuable calories by standing up. The new version features a seat.

    P.U.M.A. – Segway Advanced Development

Given this trend, my predication is that American escalators will soon be equipped with seats. Because expecting you to stand while a moving stairwell carries you up to the next floor is just unacceptable.

And here I am, using my legs like a sucker. I also heard they have a machine that will breathe for me, it's so annoying having to do it on my own.

The fail of this thing has reached a limit to the point i cant explain. Soon the side walks will become streets.

Not even 10000000000000 face palms could capture the fail of this.

I recently saw a photo of one that might be introduced over here for UK Police because walking a beat hurt their feet. All decked out in the high-viz yellow and blue highlights. The smiling plod on it looked like a total prat.

now that's just a waste of time and resources.

Segway was cool cuz you could stand up and roll around on 2 wheels. Now that just looks like a wheelchair that balances on 2 wheels for no reason.

My first thought, exactly. I keep telling people that WALL-E isn't fiction -- at least that part of it.

The difference is a Segway isn't really use-able for a long haul or high speeds. You could actually commute 5 miles with this thing where on a Segway that is a much harder thing to do through a city. And good luck walking 5 miles in business attire every day...

And This can be covered for outdoor weather issues. Seems like a nice alternative to a car for some places.

Not sure why this is seen as only a fatass alternative.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't understand all the hate. It looks like they're trying to come up with an alternative to oil based vehicles.
