    Which do you prefer?

It depends on the figure for me. I love the light piping on WFC Prime, but prefer painted eyes on RTS Perceptor.

I voted depends on the fig.

Light piping works great on some figs. My favorite though are the chromed eyes on MP Prime, it's a shame they don't use that more often.

The silliest thing I see is when they design light piping into a fig then paint the eyes.

Hate light piping! It seldolm works, and if you havent got your figure under a lamp or by a window their eyes just look like dark pi**holes in the snow.

When it works, it looks great.

For me it depends on the fig, just seeing swindle's big purple eyes glowing in the dark by itself is cool.

Most of the time i like light-piping. But i cant understand why its gets painted over sometimes like on WFC Megs. My favourite light-piper is Universe Cyclonus. His eyes nearly glow on their own without any light!

Light piping is cool on some figures, but I prefer painted eyes - simply because of the fact that I don't always get to look at my figures with their eyes lit up, so most of the time their eyes are dark and hollow to me.

    Just paint them please!

yeah ill never understand why they use dark light piping that doesnt even work, like BLACK or then paint over light piping that would work!

Definitely light piping. It just adds a certain element to the figure. Best example to me is Classics Cyclonus. Just can't quite understand when they give a figure light piping then paint the eyes. Somewhat boggle's the mind. Most current example is WFC Megatron and Soundwave. Find that it happens more with the Decepticons.

Depends on the figure. I like how it looks when they use a lighter plastic that actually transmits the light well, but darker blues and blacks rarely look good. In some cases, painted eyes do look better, but in other cases, they use a colour that's too bright and the eyes stand out too much.

I do find it odd when they have a figure set up for light-piping and then paint over the eyes, especially since the amount of paint apps each figure gets is limited.

I voted that it depends on the figure. I recently got Animated Rodimus and he has some nice light piping. But.... I tend to lean more towards painted eyes. Maybe they should try using more of a fluorescent type of paint for eyes. I did a custom out of Classics Nemesis Prime. I painted his head black and painted his eyes a bright red. It looks bad ass.

Depends,as much as i LOVE LIGHTPIPING! there are some cases that it wont work as well then others, also it would be nice if we can see a figure that haves light piping and haves glow-in-the-dark paint. Glow in the dark a very nice addition, especially if you combine both light piping and Glow in the dark paint, but since its regular paint it is a thing about it,still since most small figures (For example the shadow recon minicon team, pcc minicons, etc) that have like clear plastic put they dont paint around it except the eyes of the figure to give it a "Light piped head" Fell, heck that might be a way to give a legends/minicon/really tiny guys in general. a good lightpipy feeling.

Painted mostly. Not entirely sure why they ever paint over light-piping but looking at WFC Megatron and Soundwave on my desk here I'm sure glad they did. Just left to the light-piping they'd have been less impressive to me.
When you have light piping and no lght source behind (like when they're stood on a shelf with a wall behind them) then they look dead with their dark eyes.
There should also be more figures with yellow eyes. I loved all the yellow eyes in the G1 toyline.

It's because the figure is desigend with just clear plastic for the eyes, then when colours are chosen, say only one clear colour is allowed, like purple in his case, then the light piping is purple. But of course, Megatron has red eyes, so they have to paint over it for accuracy. However any future repaints could utilise the light piping.

Doesn't really matter to me. Some light piping just doesn't work very well but it doesn't bother me if the eyes are clear.

Light-piping unless it's clear, then i'd go with painted.

If it was deisgned to have light-pipping don't made there eyes in.

examples: Animated Soundwave, Universe Tankor and Cybertron Ransack come to mind.
