Anyone else watch this show? My wife got me hooked at episode 4 and I just caught up today. Diggin it so far. Like Lost, I'm seriously wondering what's going on. Went to the panel at NYCC and they didn't reveal much. All they know is that they have an ending and there won't be any back and forth from future to present, which I like. It's just staying flashes of the future but the stories take place in 1973. Also, they will nto be jumping year to year, 1974, 1975... It's staying 1073. Which should be interesting. So any idea what's going on? And I know it's based on the BBC version. I just DLed the first episode and haven't watched it yet. Is it pretty different or strikingly similar?
The BBC one has Simm. Simm was on Doctor Who. Therefore, I have to watch. But I live in the US! It's a pickle I tell you! It looks good, I'll see if YouTube is being cooperative today.
I watched the first episode of the US version, and that's been it. There was nothing for me in it. It was almost line-for-line the original version, and yet lost what made the original good. Which reminds me, is there a second series of Ashes to Ashes yet? I haven't seen whether it was picked up again, I know this one's supposed to be a 3 series programme.
Well besides the fact that i have to live with you being an asshole, I think I'll get by. I know he's in a coma. That's a given. I was just hoping no one mentions how he goes back in time. Anyway, I see I'm getting no where here because apparently no one watches it.
Honestly, my advice to you is to ditch the US version and try to watch the UK version. It's just better. Way to be a dick.
I've seen a few eps and I like it. I'm always hesitant when a show gets remade in another country, the Office wasn't so great until it found it's own direction, Kath and Kim in the US was a disaster and the Aussie version of Top Gear sucks. The banging around in the big old American car is cool. The BBC series was very good a nice original idea, was a bit strange having 'The Master' in the lead roll though.
For any fans of it, it's been cancelled: Breaking: ABC cancels 'Life on Mars' | Life on Mars | Ausiello Files | EW.com
Or some just like to be surprised and enjoy the show as it progresses. You must be one of those pricks that tells everyone the ending of a movie before they've seen it.
I remember showing my girlfriend my Life On Mars DVDs because I'd been going on about it and she rattled through both series in a couple of days because she found it so compelling. And then after the end of the last episode she turned to me and punched me hard on the arm while saying, "That's it? That's how it ends? You could've saved me many hours of my life, you shithead". I love my girlfriend.
Well I HATE not knowing. Knowing has never killed my enjoyment. I actually get people to tell me how movies end before I see them. I knew most of the plot for V for Vendetta before I ever saw it.
I can recommend the BBC version, and if you like it there's the sequel series 'Ashes to Ashes' which is in the 80's instead
And you didn't stop to think for a second that maybe not everyone else wants to know the outcome before they've even seen it?
Honestly, the I like the cast to the localized version a hellovalot more than the BBC version, and that's because I love BBC. These guys scream New York Cops of the period a lot more. I can watch the show purely based on that cast.
