So I was playing with my FE/RiD line just now. I wanted to transform the figures from Bot to Alt mode. I haven't played with these in about a week or so. I was surprised by how long it took me to figure out these transformations again.

So using CJ as an example, could you please answer these questions:
1- How many times have you transformed him?
2- How long does it now take you to transform him?

I was just thinking people saying that RiD is supposed to be "kinder" for kids and more simplistic.

For me at least, I don't think these transformations are simplistic. With CJ, I transformed him twice. Since the last time I transformed him to now, it took me over 5 minutes to say, oh that rotates that way, that pulls that way, etc.

So just wanted to see how long it took you guys. Also, for anyone with kids that are 5-11, how well do they do transforming these?

Cliffjumper is pretty easy for me. I'd say 1-2 minutes? I've transformed him maybe 4 times. It's pretty much the same for all the other deluxes. The voyagers will take me about 5-7 minutes.

Just did wheeljack, he took about 3 minutes. Do you guys do the top half of the figure first then the bottom? That's what I did on WJ, but then had to pull and push to get the snap together pieces to line up properly.

They're definitely not 1-2-3 transformations. I don't think they're any simpler to transform than DOTM or Movie 1 toys.

Yeah, they remind me of movie toy transformation.

It's so interesting since I mainly collect classics figures, and it's interesting how much Movie Line/Prime figures transformations differ between the lines.

Wheejack's pretty Classics-y, but 'Bee and Cliffjumper both do seem to have Bayverse transformation influences. Soundwave is like a big cyberverse.

Arcee is just annoying. 12 minutes in, still not transformed yet. There is no gimmick I hate more then the head through technique in TFers. I refuse to check the instructions for that whore. I will have her done. Havn't looked at her in a month.

^ Really? She's pretty kibbly, but she's not that bad.

Both versions of CJ are easy, about 2 mins a piece?

Arcee finally done. She took forever. At least 25 minutes. The damn pieces wouldn't tab together.

For those that have no issues, are you collectors of Movie figures?

I have no issues because I pay attention to the joints. I bought movie toys, but only the ones that interested me.

Did Bumblebee, took like 5-7 minutes. The arms got me on him.

I pay attention to the joints as well, and the tabs. But some figures you need to do an exact predestined order for the tabs to match up, which can get frustrating to say the least.

I really cannot see how this line, either the FE or the RiD is "kid" friendly. The transformations are definitely more complex then the classics figures.

FE Arcee's not really that great of a figure, anyway. The arms suck and her chest is floppy.

Just finished Soundwave. Tied with Starscream for 1 in terms of fun and transformation. Arcee has to be the most annoying transformation so far.

Yeah, the arms on her are pretty confusing. Thankfully all the PRiD toys so far look easy to transform.

Just did Megatron today. Not too bad.

You know, even though the RiD line does not look as nice as the FE line, it is more fun to transform them then it is to Transform the FE line (except for Starscream.)

Don't kill yourself - keep the instructions and go back to them if you need to.

We're not awarded "life" or "interwebz" points just because we do them without the intructions. I keep all my instructions 1) for just in case and 2) for resale value.

Dumb question and prolly wrong place, but is there a difference between the FE SS mold and the RiD SS mold?

Not sure anyone has the RiD SS Mold. If your talking 2 pack, they look similar. May be the FE one.

As for instructions, I try to think if I can do it without them. I just think these TFers now a days are to difficult for kids 5-9. Could be wrong.
