Been readin the millions (or it at least seems like millions) of comments on the Botcon/Overlord thingy. Quite frankly this has seemingly become the most controversial subject i've seen on here in a while so quite simply:

    Heres a poll.

Yes if you think Botcons losing its edge and Overlord is proof.

No if you like the collectables the way they are.

I'm voting both so no-one knows what I really think, don't want a million replys. lol :p

You haven't been around here for a long time, huh?

To answer your question, no BotCon hasn't necessarily "screwed the pooch." Even this year's first revealed exclusive has been shown it is relevant and accurate. I don't think it's the Overlord people had in mind, but it isn't even being called Overlord by the club; it's Gigatron.

I'd prefer a "who gives a flying fuck" option, but that's just me.

One toy does ruin forever a convention. That's just stupid.

What mold would have been better? Answer this. The only way they could do overlord justice is by making a new mold which they cant do with the excusive sets

They screwed the pooch on Overlord maybe, but that's about it. It's really difficult for them because they're limited to certain molds by Hasbro. I just wish they decided to go with another character instead of forcing Overlord on that Bludgeon mold.

I think FP still does some cool stuff. They can't all be winners you know. But man... This is one they shouldn't have fucked up. Lol.

I don't think there's any of the large Botcon sets where there wasn't at least one toy that elicited the 'WTF they thinkin!?!' reaction from most to all (maybe different ones for different people, yet still universal) Currently they're right on track for the Overlord haters and it's all gold from here on. :D

I'm odd, I think they should have just used either the Thunderwing mold. Or even Cybertron Prime.

To befair, FP are still massively in credit after last years Animated set. This is but a small hiccup.

I think FP generally does quality stuff...but their occasional missteps, such as P/CP's tiny head and this poor choice of mold for Overlord, have been significant. They also need to finally put Shattered Glass to rest after this BotCon and SG Drift - it's getting old.

I wont vote because even though I am not a fan of the mold choice for Gigatron/Overlord (I wanted a Universe2.0 Silverbolt) I still think a whole lot of their stuff is great.

It's a horrendously stupid looking figure, but for me, it's pretty much par for the course when it comes to BotCon repaints - especially all this SG nonsense. Personally speaking, their 2007 set and the Animated Autotroopers from last year are the only exceptions to the rule.

May I direct your attention to Runabout and Runamuck...

But seriously, think back to their first couple of years. We were offered Botcon sets full of Scouts and Astrotrain and Airazor in the club store.

Not only does FunPub still put out quality stuff, their offerings are getting steadily better.

Why? I understand a number of people are burnt out on shattered glass but if it still sells then there must still be alarge enough fan base to support it no?

I don't own anything FunPub's ever made because of the cost but they still put out quality stuff.

Besides I like Gigatron for what he is and not for what we wish he was.

Punch/counterpunch, and Runamuck, and Runabout are the best the last two years, but I don't care for the sets they have done lately, still they are something alot of ppl want or they wouldn't happen.
