Yeah, I love the Zeta Plus MG. Actually, despite its age, it actually feels better than the Delta Plus IMO (at least the A1 version. Never got around to the C1 version, and I'd heard that one tended to be a little floppier for some reason). Part of the problem with the Delta Plus is in how it references both the Zeta and the Hyaku Shiki in design, so you've got the sometimes fiddly Zeta transformation on top of Hyaku Shiki's open-armoured aesthetic with a bunch of pointy dangly bits. Bad combination. The whole affair feels overdesigned (especially the tiny moving "locks" on the chest") and somewhat fragile.
I was not a fan of the mg delta plus almost entirely because no matter what i did i could never get it in a decently looking pose.
The problem there is the shitty articulation range in the hips. The balljoints are set really deep and greatly restrict the outward motion at the hips. Plus, at least on mine, they were super floppy.
That's funny because mine was actually pretty tight. But the problem boils down to me being terrible at posing my toys.
Ball joints have no place on a modern MG frame unless they're the wrists or neck. The Zeta Plus A1 has been on my list for years now because I've also heard it's pretty good for its age. Plus the articulation range is great.
Noticed something peculiar with my bottle of Gunship Gray I had been using. when I used it, the paint dried ghostly white. It was like I was brushing the parts with over diluted pigment. So five minutes in the Ultra Sonic stripped the paint off the armor pieces. Just the leg armor and helmet, but also I decided to strip the paint off that sliding 'track' piece from the Funnel Containers too. I refreshed my paint with a fresh unopened jar. In the meantime, my friend who owed me a Gunpla Favor had to make a trip to Tampa and found this hobby shop called "Gundam From Japan"... and nearly died from pure joy. I asked him to see what they had and so... MAZIN!!! GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Master grade Justice Gundam. I have the Providence and now i really gotta get the Freedom 2.0 to complete the trio. Owning the 1.0 already has put me off on buying it.
I've been looking at it straight built on Dalong.net, I'm impressed. Colors, details, and so little paint work necessary except for the Pilder. I'm planning on how to paint the panel gaps with my metallic color from the RG Trans-am Raiser. but the joint parts are the same color as the frames of a Perfect Grade, which means my other recipe will be just fine!
Also Banshee learned how to hold the Beam Javelin horizontally without it falling over: in a big "fuck you i have a Klingon Bat'leth" configuration.
I would be with you if every jointed hand had the whole peg system that the 3.0 style hands have. As much as I love the 2.0 hands, man they can be frustrating. That's one of the many things that I love about the MG Amazing Red Warrior. It has 2.0 hands, but it also has a flip out peg for its weapons. I built the RG Rx-78's rifle and shield, so now it's just down to the bazooka and core fighter. I'll be making a post about it later tonight or tomorrow, because I've got... things to say about it.
I love how you set up the javelins. That's awesome. The mg red warrior had hand's like this? I adore these style hands and i wish more then a few kits used them. All the poseability of the 2.0 hands with the super secure flip out peg system of the 3.0 hands. And i find they don't fall apart while posing them unlike the 3.0 hands, at least mine always fall apart anyway.
apparently there's a MG FA ZZ Gundam for $20 in my area. as much as I hate the bulk of the ZZ, which is piled on by the FA, it's $20. .it's likely going to be my last gunpla for the year as I need to go back to my other hobby. thanks, I hate them lol
Yup, just like those. And now that I know the Hyaku Shiki has those hands I want it. I think the Sazabi Ver. Ka's hands are my favorite, since they're basically more robust looking 3.0 hands, but these are a very close second.
For $20, I guess there are worse gambles to take. As one of the old-style MGs (glorified 1/100 HG/NG kit. Essentially the same as the newer RE:100 line), it's really not that good. I found the original ZZ could only just barely support its weight, so I can't imagine how the FA equipment handles.
I'm looking at video reviews. I might be changing my mind, I don't wanna have my last build of the year be something as bad as the FAZZ. dear god, what was Bandai thinking when they designed the ZZ back then? I don't know if it even has action base adapters. but $20 tho
Discount isn't worth it then, and i'd be leery of second hand Gunpla or models of any kind.. besides the description already shows missing parts. So, abort. Now! make your final build this year something to remember. If you want a ZZ. Get the Ka! Besides, I'm still betting they have Full Armor set coming for it... eventually.
you're right, I shouldn't go for the FAZZ. Even though that thing is a bulk of a brick, it's still shorter than my RX-0s. Now to find the Ver.KA Sinanju Stein. The base ZZ MG was released in 1999. Legally it can buy cigarettes in any state except California (because I helped pass the prop that raised the age from 18 to 21 last election lol)
I really do hope Bandai really consider follow up the HG Mazinger Z Infinity with more HG Super Robots. Man I mean, we need more alternatives for Super Robots. We have the expensive SOCs, then the articulated SOC FAs, then Mini-Pla. But I want a Gunpla styled SOC as detailed and gimmicky like Mazinger Z Infinity.
