Huh, that's weird. Don't think I've ever seen a gatling cannon being held like a normal rifle before. They're usually underslung or arm-mounted.
Not really. At least not in the animation, where they were only used in the Full Armour configuration, and mounted in pairs on the forearms/under the shields.
Do you forget that's what the Unicorn used after it escaped Palau? It destroyed the Driessen with one. The Zulus also used them sparingly. (mostly the Garanciere's ones) They were meant to be held like rifles, it was only the Unicorn that was modified to wield them on the arms to supplement their weak penetration power. They have handles with triggers in the exact shape to be held that way. You actually can't hold them and fire them underslung.
scene at 9:00 in SPLIT's video. the gatling rifle is even in the thumbnail of that episode. meanwhile, miniguns in real life are underslung because they're just too damn heavy, plus there's the issue of the amount of torque being generated from spinning the barrels. which, of course, are non-issues for a giant robot.
Finally got around to getting this RG. There are a few parts that feel like they might be an issue (mostly the hips), but so far it's going better than I thought it might.
two hours later and at 1:28am, asymmetric bazookas are done. I still need to make the six gatling guns though. one day I'll get better at fixing nubs....
Sorry I have been offline, Got clipped by the eastern side of Hurricane Michael last night and lost power until this morning. Cows are all safe and secure, no major damages. Still have no phone, cable or internet. But let's just say I have mastered Gunpla by Candle Light because I was awake until 2:30 in the morning. Cellphone signal sucks and won't let me upload pictures. In short, I keep making more decisions on painting Sazabi. Will post more when services are restored.
I appreciate everyone's concerns. Starting to get some internet access back, it's sluggish but at least I can get online to see what's happening in the world (and then immediately regretting it when I read about US Politics... sigh, where's a Colony Drop on Washington when we need one? anyway moving on...) Cable's still out but I couldn't care less about the vidiot box right now but sadly that keeps me without a phone line other than my cellphone. All that mattered to me was making sure my cattle, dogs, and parents were okay granted we all live on the same stretch of homestead. If the storm hadn't swung west as it made land fall we would have been in real trouble. Radar showed we got clipped by the wind of the eastern side of the storm, and a brush from the storm wall all in one thunderous pass and that was enough to knock out the power. Luckily everything's running and my cows have running water and I have electricity. While the Hurricane winds have settled, we're back to muggy, swamp ass conditions with no air moving. Typical South Georgia "Fall" weather these days. At least I can take a shower when this day is over and sit under a ceiling fan. In all honesty, We got lucky. No property damage, No casualties in the herd unlike Irma in which we lost four heifers and were flooded for days. In total, we got 1-1/2 inch of rain, despite what it looked like in the wind. View of the cow's pond in the south half of the pasture, level was brought back up to its normal depth. If you look out in the distance on the right you see my bull. Damn right I gave him a hug when I had a chance! There was however one panic moment from Crowe this morning.. Was he bellowing because his water trough was empty? No, he was freaking out because his box fan wasn't running! anyway, here's what I spent the night working on by taping flashlights to my work lamp in my workshop. I finished painting the arm pistons, In hindsight I should have painted them with my airbrush when I treated the yellow parts. I thought about it then but decided against it. In my defense, I wasn't thinking that far ahead with painting the frame. Then I went back to work on the legs. I painted the 'gear' components of the knee joints and the raised edges of the knee that are visible through the gaps in the armor. Also touched up the sliding piston for the knees, rivet marks and the additional nozzle points on the heel and toe. While I waited for the power to come back on this morning, I did some more work on the rifle as well as the collar. I painted the area over rather than trying to erase the spilled paint and it looks much better this way.
While I generally agree with what he said about the kit, I find the review a little obnoxious to watch. There is really nothing new about most of its shortcomings. Terrible joints, limited articulation, scale up HG, not MG level of appearance, these apply to most of the RE/100 kits. RE kits are more like "accessories". You buy them after you have the respective MGs.
The cost is actually very reasonably given its size. It's significantly larger than the MG Geara Doga yet it's 300 yen less. To make Jagd Doga a MG, it will easily cost more than 6000 yen.
Don't know when I'm gonna get around to the accessories, but I've got the RX-78 done. There are a few wobbly parts, but overall not bad. I really like that there is a yellow part behind the clear part for the eyes so it looks great with just a bit of black paint around the eyes (I know it's hard to see here). My favorite part though might be the fact that this thing has actual red pieces for the head cameras. This kit gets top marks for that alone. Now to put the 3.0 in my sights.
