So, Bluefin was just bought by Bandai-Namco. Hopefully this bodes well for people such as myself who need replacement parts.
so what kind of paint do you guys use for detailing? Gundam markers are fine for some stuff but I want to start doing some more fine detailing.
Do you mean spray paint on clear coat? If so then I think it should be okay as long as you do multiple light coats over the entire kit. I've done it before and it has always turned out fine. There might be a possibility that joints can become a bit tighter but as long as you wait for it to fully dry before moving it I don't think there should be any problems.
I use Tamiya Panel Line Accent, and a .25mm Rapidoliner for panel lines, and Testors Acrylic paint with fine tipped watercolor brushes. One more for the backlog arrived today, the MG Avalanche Exia. Is it just me or are the 00 series boxes some of the best artwork?
I ve been debating to get an airbrush and actually start putting in some effort on my kits. If I used the panel line accent, I can clean the extra up with Zippo, on painted surfaces?
I'm not sure about Zippo fuel on painted areas, I do know Mr Color thinner will work to clean it up on parts painted with acrylic but if you put on too much you risk taking your paint up.
$45 for Sassy Sazzy but I bought it with something else (one of those blank figmas for a custom) so I don't know what shipping is yet, but I really want it, and I can't find it anywhere cheaper. Plus if Amazon were, by some miracle, able to get it, I know it'd be jacked up in price. Plus, what else do I even buy anymore? I feel like everything I'm into has dried up.
R-Gyagya was released in Dec 2014, yup, about god damn time!! Not as bad as Byarlant. The custom was release in Nov 2012 and we finally got the original version this July.
does Birthday Cakes count as gundam??? because my mother and sister decided to give me one that is figure related, so they decided to sneak in my room and snatch one of my figures to take picture while i wasnt home, and then they sent the picture to a friend of theirs who makes cakes... well then i have just received the cake (although my b-day is tomorrow) and... they really have NO IDEA of what they just did
That's not far off from what I paid actually, plus Georgia state sales tax.. but I think you're going to enjoy it! At least it shows they respect your hobby.. I'm more concerned what the baker had to say... LOL --- and my "what the F___ did I do that for?" moment of the day. I was cleaning up around the borders of the crest on the shield... and accidentally got some enamel thinner bleach spots. This is after I went ahead and stripped the paint off the rest of it... Since I'm painting the yellow parts Gold anyway, I hit it with the flat black primer also. Same for the fuel tanks since they're the typical split halves cylinders with the end cap. I'm going to paint the caps as well. Thinking RED... I'll do the crest again by hand later.
While the face gets primed out of a can, the back of the shield gets a touch of Paint by hand. And the helmet, this sets the style for the body: the raised panels on the underside and panel line gaps on the outside. I can just mask over the edges I painted by hand and use my airbrush to get the wider surface areas. Going with straight up Gunship Gray on this one. And the front, too.
