There's good things in collecting and there's things that bite us in our butt and one lesson I've learned in collecting is to always bring your money in case you find something, which is what happened to me with Reveal the Shield Jazz and Tracks where they disappeared a few weeks after I got back into TFs.

A lesson I've learned while collecting is to wait and be patient for most things and at the same time jump at the oppurtunity for certain figures... it's a contradictory lesson and can only be fully appreciated in hind-sight.

Know when to say no! Just because you've got that itch to buy something doesn't mean that you have to. Being selective in your purchases will save you time and money.

This. Watching youtube reviews will help a lot to satiate interest in otherwise mediocre figures. Save your money for what you really, really want.

Buy everything you think you want and if you end up not liking it you can sell it later.

Buy anything you remotely are interested in, because if it's awesome, you only see it once.

    Pretty much this.

And never start collecting a new line expecting it to last and/or be completed character wise, let alone give you all the size classes you'd naturally expect.

These are the biggest ones that I've learned.

    1) Watch Reviews for stuff...OR follow your gut instinct. I'm not a completionist and I never will be...I just get characters that I like.

    2) I passed up a Marvel Universe Cable w/baby Hope...and now I'm regretting it. I passed up on ROTF Bruticus and I regret that also. Basically if you are even just a TEENY bit interested...GET IT! You won't regret it later.

    3) I paid 43 bucks for Generations Warpath on Ebay. Two months later Target is trying to sell him on sale for 9 bucks all over the place in Portland OR. Lesson learned.

These days, not much is hard to find or rare. Companies have caught on to the secondary market and now reissue things or make enough to go around. Warpaths, unicrons, windchargers and grapples are pretty common. Quite a few of us paid premium prices for these when they first came out. Some Henkeis have gotten reissued, Fp stuff etc. I don't panic anymore like I used to when I first started.

I would agree until I moved to Oklahoma, where my local Walmart doesn't carry 5 different lines I've interest in collecting. Not too worried about ordering GI Joe when the local store doesn't have it to begin with :p

But back in Iowa? Every freakin' time

Always put classics and exclusives at the top of your brick-and-mortar priority list. They're more of a bitch to get on the secondary market.

don't buy a new toy just because you want a box to open. Save your money for something you really want.
