God...Target does get the best exclusives. Animated Sunstorm, Purple Shockwave, Superion, Deep Space Starscream...all I can think of.
Wait, what? Why use this mold, when they could use the *real* Lio Convoy mold from BWNeo/II? (Flash Lio Convoy for sale, BTW... see linky in thread) What I did there, did you see it?
There are two good pieces of news in this thread: 1) Target Exclusive - This means I won't have to see this ugly turd clogging up shelves anywhere else but Target. 2) Universe 2.0 packaging - This means Universe 3.0 isn't getting off to a tremendously horrible start. Bad news: 1) Target Exclusive - It will clog up shelves at Target. (unless it comes and goes super fast like Leo did) 2) Universe 2.0 packaging - Apparently they wanted Universe 2.0 to end in a big ball of FAIL. Yeah, not a fan. Didn't even think twice about picking up the Leo fig they did awhile back.
Convoy isn't a traditional name in U.S. Transformers. They could. Are you willing to pay ~$50 for a Voyager? I want Leobreaker in BW2 Galvatron colors. GalvaLioConvoy FTW!
I didn't count the Takara releases because the differences between the Japanese and American Leo/Nemesis Breakers are minute compared to the differences between the Seekers in the different markets.
Yes, but the issue is how much a mold has been used, right? Despite being nearly identical they still likely had separate production runs, resulting in more use and more damage to the mold. Painting the plastic differently or not doesn't burn up the mold any more or less.
The BWII toy is Lio Convoy. (Pronounced "lie-oh".) As for why the U.S. toys are "Leo", I'd say it's because that's an established lion-associated name. What's a "Lio" in English?
