Partially because of a request I am posting some photos of my collection. Unfortunately these are about 3 years old. I hadn't taken any newer ones before I moved and I still haven't unpacked my TFs to display yet.

I haven't been much of a presence on the boards, mostly a lurker. I did a few photo comic shorts a few years back, not sure what happened to them though.

    Anyways without further delay

Thanks. As you can probably guess, most are re-issues, but I do have a good segment of vintage figures as well. Sadly I didn't take very good photos so there are several bots out of frame

    Thanks!

I was wondering if anyone would recognize it.

I ordered it from my comic store several years ago. It's diecast and painted a metallic blue and red, plus all the individual vehicles are removable, the vents can open and close, plus missile launcher can pop out, though it doesn't shoot.

It's certainly one of my favorite items. These days you might have to resort to eBay as they are hard to find.

It's going to take me some time to dig it up. I'm no where near close to finished unpacking from my last move.

However I was able to dig up some photos and info online. The version I have was the first release back in 2001, and included a translucent shell of the Firebird (Fiery Phoenix) mode. There was a second release in 2003 repaint to resemble the show a bit more and it had a life sized replica of the Birdrang (Sonic Boomerang) instead of the Firebird shell.

Oh, and I found a couple of sites that have close up shots along with a review:

Thanks, I figure why not try to have some fun once in awhile?

Anyways, I've been thinking about trying the Retr0Bright process so I'll post some photos here as well as it goes along

    http://retr0bright.wikispaces.com/

This is a before photo of some parts of Fireflight and Slingshot that have turned yellow over the years from exposure to sunlight.

You can clearly see what the original color is supposed to be like where the stickers were removed

Because I have a bunch of small parts I decided to make a solution to submerse the parts in.

Here I am just using off the shelf 3% hydrogen peroxide as it was the easiest to find, and a bit of an oxy cleaner. I tried using sunlight as the UV source just to start out. I placed the parts in a clear plastic container, and ...raised it up with a glass loaf pan and placed a bunch of reflectors under and around them to try to hit as many angles as possible with the sunlight.

Well four hours later there is an improvement, but I've run out of room chasing after the sun so I'm breaking out additional hardware, a UV light trap with two 25w UV bulbs and a bunch of reflectors. As you can see the solution has foamed up quite a bit now.

Well 24hrs under the UV lamp plus 3hrs in the sun, this is the result. I would say it's about a 90% improvement. There's still a tiny bit of yellow left, and is almost imperceptible. The solution stopped fizzing so I assumed it had become inert which is the reason I pulled them out.

Impressions, definitely impressed and that was with just the 3% Hydrogen Peroxide. I'm going to have to look harder to find a stronger solution. However there is a bit of a drawback, the metal on the hinge pins, wheel rivets, and screws have reacted to the solution and have turned a bit crusty. So if you're going to try this, perhaps making the gel to paint around the metal would be a good idea.
