Why dosnt Hasbro let Lego make a Transformers set of Legos? I see Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman, Spiderman, and Toy Story 1-3. Transformers would be Kick Ass as Lego builds.

What would you expect to see? Larger scale transformable figures a la Technic, or the smaller typically sized playsets? Something like Bionicle maybe?

Those Dia-Block sets make me think this might not be as feasible in a satisfying way.

Because the two companies are in competition with each other, that's why.

One distinction that should be made here is that those other properties are not licensed by a toy company. Not saying it's impossible (Takara seems more willing to license Transformers properties for other toy incarnations, such as the Diablocks and Revoltech figures), but Hasbro is apparently quite careful how it licenses its property, especially to anyone who might compete for consumer dollars in a similar market.

Also, MegaBloks might still have options on Transformers. Assuming Hasbro would be doing more TF blocks, they might not have the ability to go with Lego due to MegaBloks' having the license a few years ago.

Go buy those BTR sets and be happy.
that's as close as yer goona get.

and hell, when Lego offers those expensive SW sets, i sure as hell shudder at what a decent TF will cost.

Not that it wouldn't be cool, but still...

When did Mega Blocks have a Transformers license? I remember Hasbro's own "Build to Rule" stuff, and some non-licensed transforming robot stuff, but nothing officially licensed. Maybe in another market/country I wasn't looking at?

^This^ The properties you listed, none of them actually belong to any toy companies: Star Wars and Indiana Jones belong to Lucasfilm, Batman belongs to Warner Bros., Spider-man and Toy Story (though when the heck has there ever been Toy Story Legos) belong to Disney. To make their toys, they give licenses to properties various toy companies including Lego.

In contrast, Transformers belongs to Hasbro, a toy company in direct competition with Lego. Hasbro isn't about to give a license to a competitor.

Even if they are in competition, that's really no reason to avoid a mutually beneficial endeavor.

Oh. Did a little digging. I thought BTR was done with MegaBloks. Guess not. Forget what I had posted earlier.
