To my knowledge, there was NEVER an OFFICIAL packaging like this in stores. What do you all think? The real deal or bootleg drag?

bootleg, and rediculously expensive compared to the other bootleg sets, many of which come with really cool extras.

of course, EVERYTHING on that site is a bootleg, it seems.

 

I'm beginning to think people are misunderstanding that this part of the forum is for transformers ANIMATED, the specific series, and not all transformers animation. >.>

If it was legit, it wouldn't have a picture of ARMADA Starscream on, now would it? And I don't think there's ever been a legit region-free DVD release anyway.

 

The Chinese metal box set is legit, isn't it?

Then again, almost every bootleg out there is superior in content and quality to the official Rhinos...

I believe it's licensed, so yes.

 

I asked some people on a Chinese message board once. They told me that the company that makes the metal box set claims it's licensed, but that no one really knew for sure if it is.

 

Well, as far as I know, it still stands as the definitive release of G1 in terms of features and transfer, edging out Madman's complete, and blowing away the US Rhino release.

I still need to pick it up.  

 

It's a superb set.
