While out toy hunting this morning I spotted the Dollar Store Legions.

They're on a general distribution here in the UK.

What drew my attention was the Bumblebee:

The Autobot symbol is black. A quick trawl of the web reveals that the ones in the US had Red symbols and there might be some with no symbols depending on how accurate the stock photography is.

But this is the first time I'd seen one with a black faction symbol. A friend mentioned they'd seen it in the week.

Another variation out there for the completists

Adam Pawlus of 16bit.com also saw one at a Phoenix, AZ Family Dollar store.

What about Optimus Prime and Starscream? Do they come with the GDO weapons (like in the stock photos) or without (like the ones available at US Family Dollar and Dollar General stores)?

I'd had a look on Adam's site (well worth a read every day) and hadn't spotted it.

One makes a potential error, two make a potential variant. :)

    So what about the weapons?

    No sign at all :-(

I checked, was tipping packets upside down to look down the bottom

Releasing them without the weapons was mad.
Releasing them at a higher price was mad.
Releasing them as AoE product is mad!

Well, technically they're not AOE products. They use AOE-style packaging, but lack the AOE logo. :p

Anyway, I don't care about the weapons personally, since I already own the previous Dollar Store releases that did come with the weapons.

However, if the stock photos are inaccurate regarding the weapons, they're most likely also inaccurate regarding the complete lack of an Autobot insignia, so we only have two variants (red and black), not a third one (none at all).

Well, store listings, European ones in particular, tend to say all sorts of inaccurate things like "Construct-A-Bots" or "Lazerbeak".

Have both the other versions been found? I've seen a on the shelf shot of the red symbol version but what about the no symbol one?

And does no symbol on chest have one elsewhere like the last dollar store outing for BB where it moved to his door/arm?

The stock photos depict the Autobot insignia on the arm, like on the previous version.

Most likely they simply used production samples from the previous run, which also explains Optimus and Starscream's weapons in those photos.

Even more oddly, the stock photos on the back of Bumblebee's packaging are photoshopped versions of Universe Legends Bumblebee's (the very first release of the sculpt) stock photos!

Been getting all the variants for these since the initial releases of the mold, looks like I got another one to hunt.

I love how on the back of the card it had a big 'Reveal The Shield' logo with a pic of a finger rubbing the sticker to reveal the symbol. ............it is not on the toy.

blacks's not a bad choice because it's the color used to break up the monotony of the figure.

Sad to hear about the false advertising. More Hasbro integrity in action.

The neatest part about this packing is that on the back, they're using the RTS card back. It says reveal the shield, but the faction symbol is painted on and not like the RTS sticker.

    From memory I've got:

    Universe 2
    Henkei Cliffjumper
    RTS Goldbug
EX-Collection BB (like the RTS, but different sized faction symbol)
DOTM 3 pack (yellow orange, red symbol on roof/chest)
Doller General (as above, but symbol on door/arm)
AOE (as above, but black symbol on roof/chest)

    I don't think I've missed any!

I must have a close look at OP and SS to see if there's any other differences than the missing weapons. Their symbols in black would turn them into buys!
