Hope its a step above "Phantom Hourglass."
I loved Phantom Hourglass! It was a bit simple though... But it kept me playing till the end.
This one looks awesome. TRAINS!
Ok, I need to breathe. I now have a reason to take my DS out of retirement. Seriously, both my Wii and DS are just collecting dust. Luckily we have a new Zelda game to blow the dust off the DS. Last game I played for the DS was Phantom Hourglass. And I beat that the week it came out! Wii? Last game I played was Mario Galaxy...
I loved Phantom Hourglass. But this is still good news.
Wow @ the subtitle
I'm interested in seeing how this turns out. Hopefully they're just not swapping boat travel for train travel.
I liked PH well enough but found it to be a step down from most of the other portable Zeldas (IMO: Link's Awakening is still the best followed by Capcom's Oracle games). I also wouldn't mind an alternate button centric control scheme for controlling Link. The stylus controls in PH worked fine but isn't my preference for a Zelda game.
You know, I was just saying the other day, "If only I could play a civil war era Zelda game where Link joins the Union Army." Glory days, oh glory days!!!
The game looks pretty good imo.
Phantom Hourglass was great. I look forward to this.
As long as it's not controlled with the stylis, I'm game. I played Diablo on my PC with the mouse Pointer. Zelda isn't Diablo, and controlling link with a stylus isn't cool.
Great! Another DS game I won't play. Do the zelda/mario teams have allergic reactions to Wii developments kits?
Well, at least it's a start. Come on, Nintendo, let's see a Kirby game for the Wii.
a start to what? there's already a zelda game on the DS.
console installments in those series take a long time to make. look at the gap between sunshine and galaxy, and wind waker and twilight princess.
The trailer here does look pretty nice:
All Aboard The Zelda: Spirit Tracks Trailer Train
Since they have some issue with wanting to make the games played on a tv being poorly done in 3d, I'd rather stick with the DS games(new smb on the ds was awesome), since no one has bothered to tell them they can have awesome 2d gameplay on a 50 inch tv in 1080p with nice well rendered graphics.
(and no, I haven't liked any home console mario or zelda game since the launch of the nintendo 64, same also goes for metroid).
link went from hero to train conductor?
I'm not arguing the quality at all. I just don't like playing on a tiny screen when I'm never "On the go". I feel silly playing on a tiny screen with my nice large TV sitting there. I will do that for very few games, and even with this looking as good as it does, only if consoles are in an extreme dry spell will I play it.
Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm not a big fan of playing videogames on a 2 inch screen when I have a 47 inch hdtv in the living room. I'm just saying, I can't stand the 3d gameplay metroid zelda and mario have had on the home consoles since the n64. I want awesome 3d graphics in my living room, but a sidescroller, or overhead isometric view. It's possible. Sf4 managed to update the franchise to modern graphics without changing the gameplay people enjoyed years ago, and it turned out pretty good(I still have some quibbles with the mechanics like the combo and focus systems, but that's a separate discussion).
Looks quite good.
But does remind me I need to still finish Phantom Hourglass
When it comes to Zeldas, I don't mind them taking 60 years to finish them, because they always give me hours and hours of entertainment.... except Phantom Hourglass... Half the time I was looking at my hand in front of the screen, so I traded it in.
edit: Nevermind, just saw the IGN preview. Stylus controls... I'm out. Thank you Nintendo for Twilight Princess. At least I got my Zelda bliss one last time before the game became point and click.
While I played through Twilight Princess, I found it rather dull. But besides that, it was a port of a gamecube game more then anything, and while I know it takes a while for them to make a Zelda, the Wii has been out for a couple years now with no original Zelda of its own, and that makes me sad when the DS now has a couple.
