Read all of the books. Rumors of the movie for years, so glad it's actually coming out! :)  Cannot wait.

Yeah, the books are great! This movie is to be based off of the first three, I really hope it's made into a series!

Had never heard of the books before, but I was very impressed with the trailer in 3-D. So much detail, and the birds are all very realistic. I was very impressed.

Definetly will check it out this September... but are they setting themselves up for a limited succes? Whenever a movie comes out in August, September or October, it usually doesn't do well. The fall is usually the worst place for a movie to come out, with school back in session, and without the thrill of the holiday or summer season. I may be wrong with that theory, but it's what I've noticed. Tim Burton's 9, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Barnyard, all animated films that didn't do too great at the box office.

    Just my theory.

:jawdropper:  Go. Read. Them. NAO! lol, But in all seriousness, they're great books! Try to read them first chance you get! And I agree with your theory, except, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs did pretty damn well.

It certainly does look like a promising movie, especially when its being produced by the same company who made Happy Feet. I wouldn't be surprised if they won another award for "Best Animation" since Happy Feet.

Oh yeah! I cannot wait to see it!

But before I do that, I'll read the books first.

This will tank harder than The Golden Compass.

    It's owls...owls? Owls.

I doubt anyone cares and if it is based on a novel, then I guarantee it has been made in the most inaccessible possible way, like most adaptations.

Yeah, I was kinda thinking the same thing. Besides the great 30 Seconds To Mars song, I just cannot see people; kids, enamored by owls.

Pixar made a rat movie and a bug movie, and those did okay.

I never heard of the books either, it's not really my thing, and I've no idea if this'll be a big hit or not, but I think it has a few peripheral things going for it:

    1) I saw the trailer in front of Avatar. So probably a lot of other people did too.

    2) It was the most impressive trailer in the screening. Excellent use of 3D, beautiful rendering and animation.

    3) They're trying to connect it to Happy Feet. Again, not exactly my sort of thing, but Happy Feet was a big hit, and a very popular movie.

I never heard of this either and watching this and the commercials do nothing for me. This makes me want to watch Labyrinth.

I think this would look better in the old Don Bluth animation like Secret of NIMH. The owl and that movie looked awesome.
