Build your own MP-scaled Vector Sigma with LEDs.

Check screenshots to confirm scale. Ball is 4" in diameter.

Use x-acto to cut open half way.

Use x-acto to completely remote LED assembly

This part's a little tricky. Solder together as many bulbs as you can into a "ball". Be sure to keep positive and negative ends from touching each other. It's tricky, but it IS possible. For me, I first got them in groups of 3 and soldered them together. Then I got 3 trios together and made two "hemispheres" (9 LEDs each). Finally I soldered the 2 hemispheres together. Overall I used 18 bulbs in the picture here.
    006 (Large).JPG
Use wiring technique shown in previous video and solder wire ends to the bulb group.
    007 (Large).JPG
Use 3mm drill to create a hole at the bottom. Send the wire twisted pair through and install plug end to connect to 3V power supply.
    008 (Large).JPG
Use clear acrylic rod (or even a paperclip) and cut off appropriate length to stand the bulb group at the center of the bulb. (I used a.1.75" cut)
    009 (Large).JPG
    Use glue gun to install.
    010 (Large).JPG
Connect to power source to confirm. (I use a 3V 1A AC adapter. Very cheap on ebay)
    011 (Large).JPG
    Use glue to seal.

If you have the original MP-10 Vector sigma, you can use the stand.
    013 (Large).JPG
If you have a key to vector sigma, use x-acto to carefully cut an opening to fit the key. (you may want to do this during step 2 actually!)

Close up with Prime. Picture does not do justice to how it looks in real life!

Another pic with ball rotated (as in animation)

Thanks for checking it out. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Awesome! A great idea and impressive LED work, here and in your other customs, the Mirage invisibility box and the great looking blast effects you made.
This is something I haven't gotten into yet, and this project in particular looks like it might be a good place to start. I have the tools and MP-36 Megatron's key to Vector Sigma ... all I need to find is the ball!
