This is my ROTF soundwave. And again i can power it on either using the build in battery pack (3button cell)or external. The build in battery pack can't last long. For taking the picture below i totally i used 6 button cell(replace after the batt exhausted). That is the main reason i make adaptor to allow me power him on on my shelf for longer time.... Satelite and JEt mode Robot mode Nth much to say, i've cut the plastic to make him stand longer...make him taller...although just few mm difference...but it looks better than before. Fiber optic on his wing...so it transmit a little "dot" of blue lights from his shoulder. For the leg, orange and red led. I love the combination of the color. Why i called him nefarious soundwave? Because i browse him on the "Transformer Nefarious " comic. His hand is loaded with weapon. So i do one for him. Attached nicely on his arm by magnet. Tiny little missle with build in battery / onoff swith/ led inside... The weapon can put on his shoulder too, looks like the cassette soundwave.. Actually we can put in anywhere because it is small enough. In satelite and jet mode, i clip it using the legs beneath the tail of him.... I think i wanna try repaint on this guy, but the complex wiring, all things fix in place, this figure cannot be dissamble..........osh... Any suggestion how i gonna prep him? Actually i duno how to start at all....looking a lot of tutorial... But not really sure to masking the whole figure and spray paint him then only detailing? Or just do it 1 part at a time...i mean after done leg then hand then body or vice versa? Needed help/advice from you all.....thanks in advance... Honestly....talk about painting....its killing me.... However, i've to learn, without repaint, it is not complete mod.....
Have been touch and play this before(while WIP)... this is really HORRIBLE. for the painting, i think you can try dry brush on this, it quite easy to control. So, which is your NEXT?
I was wondering why you needed 6 button cells, then I saw the pictures...oh! Where in the world did you put your battery pack?? Also, nice engineering on the external power socket. I would like your advice on the components you used for that. For repainting, you can use liquid mask on the LEDs and other components, then paint around them. A cheaper method would be to use blu-tack (That's what I'd use, me cheapskate). It really is!
I'd prep him using 91% alcohol, brushing it on lightly. That should evaporate and not saturate the electronics. I've used that technique on other such LED stuff when paint beaded up and wouldn't stick. I'd also suggest picking up some Formula P3 paints for him. These paints are solid once painted on, just as durable if not MORE durable than testors model masters. They drybrush/wash/paint just like everything else too, water washup etc.
Thanks man.....this job is very painful....anyway thanks for the support. Yeah.....as u play my WIP tat day...u really feel the pain. So when u buy urs? bout what's next, depends on what comission i'll get.... Hey man, thanks for ur soundwave post, im copycat leh, copy all the things u've done. U r genius. Always faster than me. Thanks alot....i've read ur tutorial few times before. Jus until now stil dun have the guts to paint them on. Thanks for the info.....
Nice lighting details! Paint: I did mine one piece at a time, hand brushed using testors model masters. Took me about 3 days of working 4 hours at a time. http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m56/Loki333/Customs/ROTFSoundwavecustom.jpg Just take your time, use thin coats and have fun, d00d! Again, nice work!
Thx man, urs is nice.... WOW, thx for supporting, btw, ur longhaul is on the progress now... Bro, Jus try to do it...... Thx Oh hoho, im one of the fans of ur superb repaint job, man....
What i don't understand about some of the LEDs people do is how they get the cords to the extremities without effecting transformation
Again, wow. I'd just be happy enough if i can get the soldering to work 'long enough'. Haha. (Damned solder always breaks, prematurely).
