Chrisopher Lee in Attack of the Clones. Watching again on Spike made me realize just how flat he came across. Then again, he wasn't the only one.

NO! Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid is an absolute masterpiece, and a large part of that is Kristofferson's brilliant performance. If you think that Brad Pitt or Russell Crowe are great, charismatic western gang leaders, just watch Kristofferson in this one (on a related point, Glenn Ford in the original 3:10 to Yuma was also amazing). You clearly have not seen this film.
I actually dug that movie a lot more than I was expecting. McClane has slowly de-volved as a character since DH1, but I liked his performance just fine for what it was.

I quite like the movie myself, but it could've just been another generic Bruce Willis action movie rather than a Diehard movie.

Nuff said! Though one of my dirty little secrets is that I loved the hell out of that movie as a kid. I used to watch it all the time. That and Ninja Turtles, the movie.

Also, I agree with you smk. He is kind of a one-trick-pony nowadays.

Three words: Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. Also, Morgan Freeman hucking a monstrous sword through an old woman.

But yeah, when Cary Elwes is calling you out for being a bad Robin Hood, you were a baaaaaad Robin Hood.

true, i didn't see it. saw the O.G. 3:10 and loved it. BTW.

Kevin Costner in either The Postman or Wyatt Earp robbed me of any hope i had for him. speaking of Robin Hood- if Alan Rickman had not been in it, i would have totally hated it. He saves a lot of movies.

a lot of older movies have bad acting- but it was because the studios were an assembly line, didn't want costly re-takes of one scene and so forth. I hate how in a lot of the B&W westerns or Crime movies my dad likes, all the actors stand like nervous kids doing their first play for school. hands parallel to their body, simple lines are barely memorized, etc.

    Speaking of Bad Acting:
    Rudy Ray Moore
    Brad Pitt
    Hugh Grant
and 95 percent of athletes that someone conned them into acting. even when an athlete does a cameo (like 20 seconds on Arliss or a commercial) they absolutely suck.
Shaq for example- Kazaam...Steel....even his role as a basketball player (wow, what a stretch of the mind on that) in Blue Chips was piss poor.

gawd, i feel dirty for saying this, but Burt Reyonlds is the only athlete off the top of my head that became a decent actor.
    (Go, FSU!)

Burt Reyonlds was a star player for FSU before an accident.
Hell, Ronald Reagan was an athletic man before movies- lifeguard among other things- or you could say the Rock was athletic, just like any other wrestler.

all i know is what Robert Wuhl said about his experience with athletes and acting:
Don't ever cast an athlete for anything- they can't act and are pricks.

And look at Audie Murphy- he was a war hero, but he couldn't even portray himself decently in a movie about his own life.
    bad acting is just that.
at least Pauly Shore could act- his movies just sucked because they sucked, lol.

'80s Kevin Costner (Silverado, Untouchables, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams) = Good.

'90s Kevin Costner (except for A Perfect World) = WTF?

'00s Kevin Costner (Thirteen Days, Open Range, Upside of Anger) = Somewhat redeeming.

heh, i was just wondering because john wayne went to USC on a football scholarship (also cut short by injury) and became an American icon. i just figured there were more athletes turned actors, not just burt reynolds. but for the most part they don't translate well (shaq??)
