So apperently Optimus has a sword in the movie and the game, but the toy doesn't? I dunno, it feels like a kick in the stomach to me. I mean, Megs gets his flai/mace thing, but Optimus doesn't get his blade? Cheap.

    Thoughts/info?

I think that they just want to have each character in the game have a melee weapon. Leader Prime would be great with a sword, though. Or even better, an update of his axe to go with Megs' update of his morning star.

Oh, and welcome to the boards :thumb

    Right, welcome welcome.

Well, in the "New game commercial" thread over in the New section, a post was made concerning the sword along the lines, "Oh, so Optimus does have a sword like that guy who previewed the movie said."

Seriously, if he gets a sword in the movie I'm going to cry.

What a bunch of bull. Watch the creators rip everyone off by selling additional stuff or even a new figure after the movie that includes it. Nickle and dimers the lot of them.

So what if Prime has a sword in the movie, big deal. Transformers have always used accessories in the shows that never got made. Whether it is Transmetal Rhinox's chaingun (which has never been officially made) to Rattrap's gun, this is nothing new. Hell, Action Master Megatron never even had a fusion cannon.

The sword may have been a more recent addition to the CGI models, and it may have been too late to design a sword for the toys. Development on the toys was initiated in late 2005 and it takes at least a year to design a toy, from concept to execution. For all we know Bay and co may have decided to add the sword late last year, or early this year, either time it was too late for hasbro to factor it in their designs.

It has been rumored months back that the deluxe prime listed in computers is the one with the sword. Who knows. It hasn't officially been debunked yet but it could be true.

lack of a weapon does not make a figure "gimped".

the deluxe prime is the protoform. thats been confirmed many times, and that does make it "officially debunked".

Here is the sword in question. Shouldn't be that hard to make on the cheap.

Well look at it this way...sure Optimus doesn't get a sword...but Megatron gets very little paint...I'd say Optimus comes out MUCH better on that deal :)

My03Tundra said he has seen the deluxe one, that its not the protoform nor FAB and that its got a weapon different than either the voyager/leader, but that it has more kibble.

I'm still waiting to see what future assortments hold. I have seen some assortment number overlapping of the protoform and said deluxe prime, but I also saw different numbers for deluxe prime once. Who knows.

Not sure how a sword would look on my robo vision Prime. I'm not sure if it's his backpack kibble, or his thick lower legs with flames but he reminds me of a cowboy. Yep, a western cowboy through and through. I can totally see him wielding a saber like the one used by the calvary of old.

That'll never happen. Most likely if there are new accessories, they'd be be packed in a later rerelease for the toy, requiring collectors to buy another copy of the figure they already have assuming they bought it the first time around. (eg. MP-01 Masterpiece Convoy and MP-04 MAsterpiece Convoy Perfect edition). That my friend is shrewd marketing.

Hopefully we'll get a bigger Bonecrusher at some point. He should be quite a bit larger than a deluxe, even though the deluxe does look pretty nice.
