Here in Canada toysrus tomorrow and Saturday only Leader Class figures like Optimus and Starscream will go on sale for 50% off. So $59.99 will be $29.97. I already have a Leader Class Starscream, But I'm thinking should I get another one to keep in box and sell it 20 years later. Should I?

I dont remember if Leader SS has batteries but if it does you definitely do not want to leave them in that long.

You should take that $30 and invest it in a mutual fund. You will make much more money.

Get the extra one for half off and donate it to a Christmas toy drive.

Modern toys are not going to be worth much more money in the future, a lot of people are buying them and keeping them MIB or buying doubles.

Now my mom is saying I should buy one for my cousin. He loves transformers, last year we got him a supreme Devastator and she is saying it is better than buying a wii game.

I'd buy an extra leader class if it's on sale... but then I paint them to be more realistic so they don't end up being the same at the end.

I considered it, they were on sale at Freddies this week for $29.97+ an extra coupon (I think 10% off or something) but decided "what the hell am I gonna do with this". As cool as the figure is, it is not something I am gonna need another of. Guessing they are probably gonna give it a new paintscheme for TF3, and if that is any good, I am gonna need to get that too....Then they just start piling up.

if you were into customizing your stuff like painting or experimentation, then a spare would be nice. i usually buy a spare on a particular transformer i might experiment on.

New figures MISB aren't really the moneymakers some of the rarer G1 figures are now. Distribution is alot better and Leader SS isn't exactly a hard to come by figure either.

Oh, and it has batteries. Keep it in a box for 20 years and the battery acid will destroy the figure in the end.

There's your answer then, give the guy something he'll really enjoy. Starscream's a bit complicated though if he's really young.

I'm thinking it would be awesome to have one for display in bot mode and one in alt mode, that is, if you like the figure that much. Another thing to consider is with the release of DOTM figures in the near future, there's always the possibility that there will be a new release of these sale figures with better, more premium colors, especially considering TF3 is the final segment in these movies.

You should buy one or two for different reasons.

You can donate gifts for a child, you can use them as replacements, you can display one in robot mode and another in alternate mode, you can sell them later and use the money for new Transformers. :p

In any case, it is always a positive option.

If the reason you'd be buying a second is to sell in 20 years, then I'd pass. It would make a good Christmas gift from someone though.

Actually there are a lot of countries in which those figures are not sell officially. For example I could buy ROTF Devastator a couple of months ago in a store of my country and only that store has several of them on this year not the last year, theres no Leader Starscream here and there are a lot of characters that never were sold, actually complete Transformers lines.

The battery is in fact something in which we need to think about it but I got a new Air Attack Optimus Primal ten years after his release, and of course the batteries didnt work but nothing happened to the figure.

I would buy a second one at half price. Mainly because when I display my stuff, I try to display them in robot and vehicle mode at the same time.
