    UPDATED WITH POST #58

This is a heavy/scratch non-TF build of Launch Octopus, one of the 8 bosses from the Megaman X video game.

I didn't end up using that TM2 Tarantulas after all. The parts of his that I thought I was going to use (the shoulder cylinders) were replaced by two Alternator Hound spare tire cases. Other parts used include an opaque Alien figure (head), the helmet of a Tie-Fighter pilot (head), parts from a 1/144 RGM-79 (chest, legs), parts from a 1/144 Char's Zaku II (feet), parts from a 1/144 Tallgeese (crotch), parts from a 1/100 Acguy (missiles, turbines, water effects), missiles from an Animated Bumblebee (torpedoes), some no-name 1/144 Gundam Astray(?) figure (shoulders), fish from a dollar store toy (fish-torpedoes), as well as tentacles from a Doc Ock figure (...tentacles). Oh, and copious amounts of Aves Apoxie Sculpt, Tamiya Hobby Epoxy, super-glue, and sheet styrene. *whew*

I started building the head. I prefer the long version of Launch Octopus' head, rather than the remodeled, UFO-esque head that he has in more recent versions of the game. Using the Alien and Tie Fighter figures, we got to work.

I drove a screw through the back of the pilot's helmet and into what was left of the Alien figure's head after I cut off its face.

I'm waiting for various parts to cure. Here are a few close ups of major components, as well as what else will be incorporated into the figure:

Stay tuned for Boomer Kuwanger. :)

Fear not, he is still in my box o' WIPs! I wanted to flesh out a few more of the X1 bosses before getting too ahead of myself into the later games. As a matter of fact, I've gotten started on all of the X1 bosses, save for Sting Chameleon. I have a close friend that built one himself a few years ago, and I've been trying to buy from him for the longest. :)  I should talk him into posting it here.

I'm not sure how familiar with the X games you are, but I do have Blast Hornet, Cyber Peacock, Split Mushroom, and a few others in various WIP stages. I'll see if I can't dig them up and post them, as well. :)

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I will have an update to Launch here very soon.

I am really liking this project! Also, hope Transmetal Tarantulas is only there as a point of reference or just as a spectator and not for spare parts. I have an affinity for the figure. ;)

I'm not sure. I've been debating. I'm afraid that they'd be in such a niche market that they wouldn't do very well.

Well depending on the final product, which at this point looks very promising for launch and boomer, I would be very interested.
