Hmm, two realities?

 

Not a bad way to wrap up the saga. I think it's a curious decision to explicitly branch off from the main G1 cartoon timeline. Admittedly, pressing the magic reset button would've been unsatisfying, rendering the whole story useless, but leaving the BT universe intact seems to imply that further adventures are possible, even though the line appears to be dead. Maybe Ichikawa's just taking the "Always leave 'em wanting more" approach?

I'd be very curious to know how much this story differs from what Ichikawa had planned when there was originally supposed to be BT-17 Ginrai and BT-18 Hot Rod (as he briefly mentions at http://bwtf.com/binaltech/skids/booklet.shtml ) Nevermore, since you're probably reading this, could you ask Doug Dlin to ask Ichikawa? I'd do it myself, but I got fed up with a.t.t after Deathy's last outburst

 

A few notes here:

1) The Concussion Blaster was the weapon of choice for both G1 Soundwave and G1 Razorclaw.

2) "Hiyokko" was a popular line Ultra Magnus said in the Japanese dub of "The Return of Optimus Prime", as hew as chasing down Rodimus Prime, thus confirming fans' suspicion about Magnus' true feelings about the Matrix being given to Hot Rod. The translation with "kid" reflects the corresponding dialogue in the original English version of the episode.

3) There's a deliberate distinction between "Black Optimus" (literally "black colored Convoy") and "Black Convoy" as a named character at the very end.

4) The literal translation for Jazz's sentence was "They (the Decepticons) seem to be in a state of confusion now, but I expect they'll soon be ready for the offensive." I took some liberties by rewording the sentence into something Scatman Crothers would say.

 

Cool, a nice ending to the story, and I'm glad it gives plenty of further scope for more Binalfun.

So with an alternate universe, characters like Prime and (dare I say Wheeljack?) will be alive and dead in the same timeframe? It's starting to sound like something from Quantum Physics. I had so hoped Wheeljack was going to figure a way around the paradox.

 

So Black Optimus and Black Convoy are two different robots? Could Black Optimus be the dead Prime from the other reality? hmm

 

No, Black Optimus ejected the Spark of the Protector, returned to Dr. Arkeville and became Black Convoy.

Personally, I found the story veeeery confusing.

 

Very interestesting story. Need more BTs that are not exclusive  

 

Okay where is the Crystal? (from the protector) or whatever if Im reading it right, it is in the possesion of the autobots? You think were getting a Ultra Magnus Binal? is Hot-rod the Kiss deco style mirage brother? this is interesting.....

Interesting. I wonder if the Spark Archiville found for Black Convoy was the recently defeated Unicron?

A nice way to wrap it all up and leave some room for the fan fic writters to go nuts.

So, what happened to Unicron? Ultra Magnus pep-talked the Matrix into working for him, after stepping out of his armor? Is that right?
