I'd like to see that. I never understood why they didn't make him massive in the comics. Preview looks great! I'm anxiously awaiting the trade!
Assuming of course that IDW Overlord is the same as his Japanese cartoon incarnation, rather than just a familiar name and face on a new character. But you're not quite getting my point. It's not that Overlord couldn't outmatch and defeat Fort Max... but that we don't even get to SEE it is the kicker. Yeah, I'm sure we're all waiting for that... Yeah, I understand that they only have so many pages... but based on Fort Max's profile in the fandom, he deserves better, rather than being treated as a disposable martyr. You would think they might have devoted a bit more time to depicting that titanic face-off in true comic-book style, building it up, and THEN having Overlord walk all over him. In other words, SHOW don't TELL. This was just a bit lazy, I think. Ahem. Or merged INTO the Garrus-9 facility. Maybe that's the only way to access the fortress command codes... graft his spark onto the prison mainframe, making it his new body. Or something. I'm calling it now. zmog
True but at the same time, IDW Fort Max isn't exactly Marvel's either, so the comparisons and expectations either have to start from scratch (strictly IDW) or incorporate some precedence (Marvel for Fort Max, Masterforce for Overlord). It seemed from your post there was some expectation going on. The encounter would have been interesting to see but i can understand that they placed a greater premium (presumably, haven't read it yet) in introducing and developing the titular characters vs. creating and detailing the backdrop (decepticon jailbreak, magnus vs. overlord and hordes of angry decepticons, getting his ass torn up in the process). If they did that I feel the reader would be drawn more towards Magnus, instead of the wreckers, as it is the wreckers' book. that's not to say that they wont revisit the encounter later on, or that magnus gets repaired and seeks a rematch, as IDW has shown him to be quite persistent.
If Scorponok and Shockwave are in there, and this is around maxi dinobots(flashback wise) What's to say that gRimmy hasn't been Released? His sentance was shortened, not got rid of.
Well, it's okay, but Overlord isn't enchanting me just yet. He storms in, kills the guy in charge (I did want to see more of him, oh well), and apparently has a reputation as powerful and unhinged. He's kinda coming off a bit like G1 cartoon Galvatron, maybe it's just me. I'll see what he might actually have in mind. I'll also agree that Fort Max deserved a little more in there. Additionally, this disparity in art styles is distracting. IDW really has to settle on some "house rules" or something. Oh, and page 6, panel 3...I can't tell what's going on there. At first I thought the purple vehicle was yanking the blue-and-white guy's legs off, but he has legs in that panel. I will admit to liking the energon-as-blood thing they apparently have going on. Interesting enough that I think I'll pick it up Saturday. - Coeloptera
Galvatron was more of an crazy/angry guy. Overlord has a laid back/smart mouth attitude, like Sixshot. He's brutal but that's to be expected of a decepticon anyways, so knocking off that Skyquake wasn't anymore bat-brained than what Megatron would do for not respecting "authority".
Nooo, I have it in the mail. And I knew what you were talking about, I just choose not to believe it!
If it makes you feel any better, he sucks less thanks to Nick Roche. You should be thanking Nick and sending him baskets of bread for lessening the Twin Twist suck.
The ongoing takes place 3 years after AHM, so the flashback puts it smack in the middle of the decepticon attack I think the point is that atm seeing Fortress go down isn't as important as seeing what they did after. And if he survives this series, let alone becomes a giant, I'll be surprised (and disappointed. They shrank him and Scorponok for a reason you know) I'm really not getting the comparisons with Sixshot. Overlord's got this whole looney bond villiain meets dangerous "special person" feel to him, Sixshot's just a weapon with legs And I saw a panel in the TFW review (which, my god may actually be accurate for once instead of the usual suck up review). Topspin and Twin Twist are now awesome.
Thanks for your kind words. Just because you don't agree with the review doesn't mean its a suck up review.
