    SDCC Slideshow Stock Photos

Hunter PR put up a PDF of the SDCC Transformers slideshow. The early development images were taken out, but they left in the stock photos of Generations Junkheap and Black/Sky Shadow, and DOTM deluxes Soundwave and Wheeljack. Everything else we either saw in the display case or already have stock photos of, AFAIK. Of course, having said that, I grabbed the Cannon Force Ironhide picture anyway...

There is a hidden gem, though: one of the the Optimus Prime toys used in the SDCC packaging photos is a test-shot!

He kinda looks like he's in Black Shadow colors, actually.

Soundwave looks decent, but he does have some serious back kibble, though that could be bad posing/photography. Sweet Mechtech weapon.

Wheeljack looks really good. Apart from the shoulders and hips (both of which look non-intrusive), he's kibble free. Nice touch with his tools being clips, and I definitely want to see more of his sword. He definitely has his colors broken up, which is good. Really, I have two negatives about it: his hair is purple instead of blue; second, his arms are a little on the thin side. Apart from those, really looking forward to picking him up.

EDIT: On second glance, it's not that he has thin arms, it's that his wheels end up on the outside of his arms, instead of in his armpits a la Ironhide. I'd almost say my complaint is more an optical illusion than it having scrawny arms really. Hopefully the wheels can rotate inward.

Bring on the pics of Mirage soon, Hasbro!

I just saw on Seibertron.com that larger, somewhat better quality pictures of Generations Junkheap and Skyshadow and DOTM Deluxe Soundwave and Wheeljack have been released. the pictures are a bit blurry, but they're much larger than those from SDCC, so you can see more details.

I think the DOTM figures and Sky Shadow look cool, but I don't like the yellow and dark red paint job on Junkheap.

I'm going to make it a point to purchase 30 Junkheaps since I didn't get a chance to do it with Wreck-Gar.

    Yeah, Junkheap has a visor.

And I forget - didn't Scrap Heap not have a nose, but a faceplate instead? Makes me wonder if this is in fact the third Junkion head.

I'm pretty sure Scrap Heap did have a faceplate, and upon closer inspection, this is definitely a new mold. It has a visor, no goatee, and a slightly wider face.

While I'll get him to be complete, I still don't understand why people love that mold so much. I hate the Wreck-Gar mold.. it's a PITA to transform, and requires too much massaging and adjusting to get the motorcycle mode right. Also, one of my handlebars snapped off when trying to turn the rubber part. I superglued it back on, but still...

I wonder if Thunderwing's wings were retooled for SkyShadow or if they're simply transformed differently (I'm aware that you can put Thunderwing's in that configuration as well).

I was hoping Junkyard/heap would look "more different" than Wreck-Gar. The head is obviously different, but pretty similar. Also woulda liked to see a chain weapon or a spikey wheel-shield but watchagonnado. Unfortunately this oversight means I shall only buy several of them, rather than a massive amount.

Hasbro, a new Junkion every wave forever. Make it happen.

Is it just me or does Soundwave have fake alt mode chest syndrome?
