Does a lack of explanation as to what happened to Mudflao and Skids bother anyone? I mean we all know that Bay tends to do this but at least he explained Jolt's absence in the comics. And we all know that they were originally supposed to be in the movie, but the factthat the movie didn't explain what happened to them, it kind of bothered me. Did they just disappear? Would they not help their Autobot brothers in battle?

They weren't in the film was because most fans and critics abhorred them.

So the reason they weren't in the film was because it was out of a favor to those people (and to help the ratings). That's it.

Maybe Mearing had them reassigned to somewhere else like she did with the Wreckers?

The movies DID establish that they were in various missions around the world, the Twins likely died in one of those.

In the movie novel, they are both killed by Sentinel prime at the Nest facility, when sentinel goes to get the pillars.

Yup. I hated the Twins, but I still think their sudden absence should have been addressed. If they were just generic background characters in ROTF like Jolt was, then I wouldn't have cared or even noticed. But they were (unfortunately) THE main bot characters of ROTF, so to have them just vanish from the series was a retarded decision imo. No one should have to rely on comic books or fanwank explanations to follow movies from one to the other.

I hope they're included on an extended cut of the film, possibly in the deleted scenes if not that.

They should be, since they shot scenes for them. Not to mention you can see them driving into the nest base in the beginning and you hear someone scream "Mudflap, Mudflap!" after Sentinel's betrayal.

I don't think there's a more eloquent, or accurate way to put it.

It's what they did with Jolt, go to Transformers.com and go to the vector sigma and look for the autobot twins, it says on secret missions on diego garcia island, as to where jolts says "on special long term missions with NEST"

Well you see it's because people are a bunch of whiney bitches about fictional characters in a movie, and so they requested more plotholes just so they didn't have to see the characters they hated die.... I'm done now.

There wasn't really official closure on Jolt either if you were watching the movie. Yeah yeah the comics and stuff, but still...

Oh yeah, how totally "wow, just wow" about people wanting something resembling coherent storytelling that would have taken all of 10 seconds worth of dialogue time to address. How completely unreasonable.

In the grand scheme it's not the biggest issue since DOTM obviously has way bigger problems than lack of mentioning the Twins or Jolt, but it's also one of many examples that could have very easily & effortlessly fixed with no extra budget or time needed.

Agreed. I freaking hate all of the obvious and unnecessary plot holes in DotM.
