The Moon landing was mans greatest achievement.

The Transformers trilogy is ILMs greatest achievement.

If these guys don't win an Oscar for DOTM then it is a travesty!

ILM deserves recognition from the Academy for their work in these movies. Say what you will about the flawed writing, Michael Bay, and some of the poor acting, ILM made the movies enjoyable from a visual effects standpoint.

Unfortunately, I still don't expect them to win.

OMG a thread complimenting the movie. My mind can't take the strain.

That said.. ILM raped everything else out there. Great work.

ILM deserved an award for their work on the TF movies since 2007.

This was definately their best work yet.

They made those robots look "realer" than anything that has come before it. They looked like part of the environment because of all the lighting and reflective surfaces. But for ("some") reason a fucking CG bear deserved more recognition than something that had never been seen before on a screen.

It's a shame that the people involved in the Oscars are so jealous of Spielberg and Lucas that almost never give them their due with awards.

DOTM has Spielberg's finger prints and ILM has Lucas' fingerprints so I'm pretty sure any special effects awards are going to go to Green Lantern.

Agreed, how they haven't won an Oscar yet for any of the Transformers movies is mind boggling.

    I didn't think so. I thought Avatar had a few take-homes.

I love GL, but that would be really sad if that happened. So what happens if no other obvious contender goes for it? Will they still give it to Zookeeper just to snub Bay and Spielberg?

Did Yogi Bear come out this year or last?
If it's this year I'm afraid Yogi Bear will get all the awards.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is what most people are expecting to win best VFX this year. The other nominees will probably be Harry Potter and something like Smurfs or Zookeeper just to snub DotM. DotM will not win an Oscar in any category, and I will be shocked if it even gets nominated. Sure, its VFX are incredible and it's one of the finest 3D movies ever made, but it's also a Michael Bay Transformers movie so therefore it doesn't deserve any recognition outside of Razzies, in the eyes of Hollywood.
