Here's some pictures of my custom Kre-O builds. All built using only pieces from the respective sets, no borrowing from other sets or use of lego etc. Ratchet (based on artwork from IDW's '-ation' comics) Bumblebee (went for the G1 'car-roof for a chest' look) Optimus Prime (about as G1 as you can get with such a small set) Prowl (still need to fix the proportions but almost there) Starscream (first attempt, not really happy with it, gonna try again) Sideswipe ( first is a stocky G1 type, the second is based on the Classics toy, not decided yet which to keep) Movie Optimus Prime (Based on the ROTF Leader figure, with rifle and swords) All comments and criticism welcome, always trying to improve them. I like both Sideswipes... but if I had to pick one I think the one based on the classics mold is a bit above the other.
My inspiration for the movie Prime was making something to stand next to Split Lip's Megatron, that thing is the Mutt's Nuts. Hopefully I came close.
Wow, really nice work on all of these!! I like what you did with Prowl, he's next on my list of fiures to rebuild. Either Sideswipe is an improvement from the original, though I think I like the G1 version just a bit more. Your Optimus is FANTASTIC though!! I spent four evenings tearing mine apart and rebuilding it, and I'd do it all again to build one like this. Love the use of the pivot joint in the waist, and all the subtle detail pieces. If you stare at his head/chest area, those little red c-clip pieces on his shoulders look like part of movie Prime's flame paint job. That backpack looks great, and I'm going to have to steal that blaster design for mine. You should take a pic of it next to Megatron to make us all jealous and start asking for instructions...
Wow, that movie Prime blew me away. Also I'd say go with Classics Sideswipe, and maybe add some pieces to the feet if you've got them.
