I see these pop up on ebay from time to time. Whats the difference from the original Japaneese version?
The Sonokong (Korean) one is even licensed by Takara... I remember when i got mine the Japanese one was hard to come by and went for insane amounts of money... I ended up settling for the Korean one at like half the cost. Now the difference isn't as much, but still... And the art on the Korean box is better.
Next Question: Can Someone paint it gold for me? KIDDING! So no real difference, I might look into getting one.
I got mine last week at a Swap Meet for $20. Great Figure (and I normally dislike Beast Figures) with Great Quality.
yeah I have the Korean version too. I knew I had to have this figure when I saw a BM Pamphlet. One of the best optimus design there is.
Ditto for me. It's awesome and the Korean boxes are made out of thick cardboard, similar to the Takara Masterpiece boxes. They also come with 5 or 6 bio cards.
Big Convoy was my first import back in the day. I had to get it because he was the first figure with a removable matrix. I saw it here and I blame this hub for my long time addiction to importing cool figures.
Well I'm going to have to disagree with the guys here.I have both the Japanese and the Korean Big Convoy's and a few others from the BW's Neo toyline and I have found a difference. The Plastic used on the Korean Big Convoy is a softer grade of plastic in some areas of the figure mostly in the tusks. The same can be said for some of the other Korean Beast Wars figures. Now the softer plastic has not presented a problem at all so some may say its not a big deal.
Who was it that did an Optimus/Convoy head photo montage? That's who I blame for my Korean Big Convoy His head really stands out in a crowd, even a crowd of similar designs. No regrets either. He stands proud on the Op shelf above me.
It's funny you mention that. I first started hunting for info about Big Convoy because someone on a different board had a headshot of him for their avatar. Big Convoy has one of my favorite Convoy/Optimus heads. My Korean release Big Convoy had slightly loose ball joints in places when I got him, but I don't know if that's something related to being the korean version vs. the japanese or not. It was easily fixed with future floor wax, either way.
QC is a littly spotty on Sonokong toys. Generally they are fine, but every now and then there's one that has a bad paint app in an obvious place or a loose joint or was assembled wrong, etc.
