Not only that, they made it worse. Such a shame, since everything else about this figure is a huge improvement over MP-27.

 

It's too narrow and youthful looking, and lacking in personality. Ironhide is a rugged warrior. Does that look like the face of a rugged warrior?

I'm pretty sure that guy who made the review video was even making fun of it, but I don't speak Chinese, so I'm not certain.

 

You can make ironhide look like hes not 10.

Yup, I STILL haven't picked up an MP Prime in hopes for this kind of announcement.

 

They somehow used the face MP Ironhide had in the testshots

 

I don't expect it to perfectly replicate the cartoon, and I agree that the only thing that matters is that the face evokes an image of the character it is representing, but I don't think that face does. Ironhide is supposed to be a hard-nosed warrior. He's not an old, grizzled veteran, like Kup, but he also shouldn't look like an androgynous teenaged K-pop star.

I'm not saying it's enough to turn me off from buying the figure, but it's still disappointing, considering all the effort they went through to make the rest of it look so much more like Ironhide than the official MP-27 does.

Furthermore, while I respect that your opinion on the face differs from mine, I don't think suggesting that alternative face plates may be available in the future is a valid counterpoint to my complaint, as we're discussing the figure as it exists now.

 

Face looks bad, same thing happened with their OS KO Arcee. Looks very... KO

The huge gap at the hips above the legs make the entire proportion look wrong, like its a bad copy. Made the narrow hips without the hip panels look worse.

The twisting and and turning of all those parts to hide the hip panels and fender behind, feels very un-toylike. In that its too custom DIY (which it is) and thus not very elegant. I won't enjoy the transformation, which is an important part of an MP figure for me.

The addition of these mirrors are a nice touch.

All in all, the biggest reason I won't get this is the face.

I highly doubt it. Based on recent history with KOs I'll bet it won't have such issues because

1. It's a KO (albeit an oversized one).
2. It's a KO from Wei Jiang.

 

Are KOs known for having better quality chrome? Or just Wei Jiang? Either way, huzzah!

 

Yes.

 

These days most KOs of official Takara TFs are known to have better quality than their officials....some extremely higher quality. It's been a pleasant realization for most of us. Yes Model MP seekers for instance.

 

How times have changed, we used to say the cheap knock off was fragile and unsafe, nowadays it's the official that's like that. Lol

 

Tell me about it. MP Tracks is a perfect example. Now we have 4 KO MP36 on the way from different companies. Once my official Takara MPs on preorder arrive after the end of this year, I may just stick to the KO versions for future Takara MP releases unless it is a repaint of a Hasui era MP that I really want.
