I'm going to get this anyways in case the MPM doesn't get an oversized KO as big as this. But if it does then I'll just sell the BMB KO of the voyager after I've gotten it. It will make a really nice place holder until then.

Ben didnt seem all that enthused by it.

One of my biggest nitpicks with the original, is even worse on the BMB. Those shoulders.

And I'm pretty sad about no ratchets.

 

Here is my assessment of the figure...
I enjoyed the review. But I have made up my mind, this thing is too large for my collection. It's too big for my concept of scaling for MPM. I would love to buy it, if they downscaled it, and keep everything the same. Paint apps, LEDs and so on. Maybe some other 3P will KO the KO and make it more about a 1/2 centimeter taller then oversized SS Starscream, so it's more in scale, and then I would be all over it!! Seriously, what were they thinking at that scale?? Their sales would have been off the charts had they brought this out in a much more translatable scale to MPM, or heck even the OS studio scale Optimus is so small by comparison. When I saw my LT02 Next to it, I was convinced.. He's too damn big! and that is a shame, because I really truly love what I am seeing!! I hope some third party sees this comment and says, yea, I'm gonna be smart and release this, as a KO of a KO with additional improvements, or accessories and at a better scale. I'd support that. Or if BMB decided to do a "deformation era" Label and drop the scaling back but keeping it the same, then I would rather that be the case, all the work they put into it. SEE!!

I told you, I love this but I can't justify this with the scaling because well Let's face it. MP-44 is coming, and I am still trying to save up for it. I wonder if there is a trend of this going on, something they might have considered is all, given the out of whack scaling this thing has. It's like they were competing with 3A..

This works for me on the MPM scale, given how tall the KO OS Starscream is. I just ordered it today!! Can't wait!


But this is out of scale for me, I am reminded of Starscream grabing Megatron's shoulder and saying that sometimes cowards live to fight again. Or something like that(Please don't flame me cause I messed it up or didn't search for it, the quote isn't the point)..  they looked to be the close in scale, Megatron being a bit bigger but certainly not this much!


I mean he's shorter then Grimlock OS SS. But he's too tall, so it feels like he diminishes the point of the OS of Grimlock. They could have been more in scale with the OS SS Starscream again, I say that is the perfect scale I envision for those two and the OS Blackout of course. They all play perfectly into the whole scale I feel would look good if not accurate, close enough for me.

Still Like I said, I freaking love this figure! I wish they release a smaller version. Or someone else.. I need this! But Just a tad bit smaller..

This to me would work for the MPM line scale. The scale LT02 is to the OS SS Starscream, shows you how much bigger this scale would be with Megatron, and still keep him larger and imposing.The tip of Optimus's Antenna is at the eye of Star Scream, so that is how much smaller Optimus LT02 is to Screamer and my reduced scale megs.. That is what works.



Now with a reduced scaling, think of this..
Megatron will be the 2nd largest of the Baddies in your collection, Starscream a bit smaller, and Brawl.
While Hide shadow (Blackout) will be the tallest Decepticon on the shelf not by much tho. down to Barricade, and the rest to me, will all line up.

I know they are going for their own scale, But I think they can also do a smaller scale and release it, since they have the original molds or files for the molds.


I'll say this tho. This 2018 Year that past was where the Oversized studio scale got interesting.. Because it works so well with the MPM.. Except this Megatron. Which I really want to Buy.. But damn.. I just can't. Not unless it was in a better scale.
My bottom line assessment: yes I love it. I think it's magnificent. Will I buy it? No, I can't justify it on my budget. But if you're going for this scale, then you gotta pick this up.

 

Anyone having troubles tabbing the legs into the torso for tank mode? Feels like the hole meant for the tab is too small. Wouldn't want to grab a knife to sand down the tab unless I have to.

 

I will be picking this guy up during the next flash sale.

 

Yeah, this thing is too big for my collection. I will wait for a leader size one or slightly bigger one, but not this one.

 

I wonder why BMB decided to make this guy and their MPM Prime bigger than the sizes they've established with their MPM Barricade, Nitro, Starscream, and upcoming Brawl...

I'd think they would want to have all of their figures fit together better.

I've given the HasTak MPM line every single chance to succeed. I got Optimus, Bumblebee, Barricade and Ironhide. All 4 have some varying degrees of disappointments; whether it be lack of paint or loose joints or questionable engineering. Personally, I point my finger at Hasbro for cutting corners and penny pinching as they always have. Takara by themselves have a decent (but not perfect) track record. I would hate to be Takara in those design meetings... they wanna do this and that, and party-pooper Hasbro shoots down every ingenious idea just to cut cost.

Well... short term gain, long term pain... KOs get their hands in on the production and like plenty have said here; they bring out a vastly improved product and even adding a spin of their own taste to further enhance the product. I just bought the oversize SS Blackout and my goodness, what an awesome product it is. The hands are better, the engineering is better so that everything tabs in and doesn't pop out all over the place when other tabs are placed in, retooling of the feet is so good! I have the official SS Blackout and the transformation is just frustrating!

Then comes MPM Ironhide. He looks stunning in robot mode as a statue... but $140 statue?? Come on! He's a floppy mess, things don't lock in and his alt mode looks like a bashed truck in the front.

It is truly sad when we have to wait for the KOs when the official products suck!

 

BMB Optimus Prime is in scale with normal Bee and Barri, so this Megatron is also in scale with them if he is 35 feet tall like in the charts of tfw2005. Maybe weijang Blackout is a little bit small (29/33 feet tall). And i dont know what to say about starscream (31 feet tall). I hope that the weijang version of Optimus is 1 centimeter smaller to match them all better.

For me it is the same.
I am a scale nerd and want to have them all in scale. When the Ss came out it was said they put effort in scale and accuracy.. I loved Bumblebee, got hyped with Jazz but MAN Am I bummed out with Optimus prime, Ratchet, and who not.. how can a 16 cm Optimus be accurate when to scale with The Bumblebee,Jazz and now Sideswipe,Barricade Stinger and even Ironhide should be 22 cm's..
They are out of scale and all over the place. The OS KO's make up for a lot of slack and lazyness Hastak gives us.
I would love to have them all from Hasbro if they were at least in one scale. we pay more for Voyagers and leaders but they make them so out of wack.. I mean a Voyager that is 16 cm is no voyager but a deluxe.
