Sorry, suffering from withdraws and misread... apologies
Mine finally landed. Will be here Tuesday. Hopefully.
Come on, ya big bozo!
Me Grimlock no bozo, me Grimlock king!
Got mine today. Does the original feel this thin and flimsy?
The original one is pretty well QC'd. Mine is stiff all around and tabs in like it should. I don't own the KO to compare, but needless to say, the TT version is actually pretty good in terms of quality.
For $28, I guess I have no room to complain. The plastic is a tad bendy, I was afraid that I was going to break a hinge off.
Pretty fun transformation! My only real gripe was that he was packed with his visor down. It stuck a bit to the paint but, didn't hurt anything.
Yeah, sounds like slightly cheaper plastic. The officials plastic is always good.
Received mine yesterday to find a human hair embedded in the paint of the chest. So gross. Can't scratch it off with my fingernail. Probably have to sand it off.
Thankfully, my 1¢ set of reprolabels has a full chest/hood sticker that I think will cover the area. Still, blech.
Hopefully it wasn't a short and curly...gross nonetheless
Let's hope what you found didn't come from this guy.
Pics of Takara MP-28 with nice shiny, non swirly faded chrome swiped from KO Roddy.
Don't know why the last pic shows up sideways..
Nice! How's the quality of the chrome on the KO? Is it better than TakaraTomy's?
May I know how you swap the chrome parts also?
I've had my KO for about a month or more and the chrome is still in pristine condition. Based on this observation and testimonies of many others, the chrome application on the KO is MUCH better than on the official.
I don't know about how to swap the chrome parts. Maybe @Dickyscrubbs can weigh in.
Thanks! I'll repost what I had posted in the past below.
To remove and swap chrome exhaust pipes from KO MP-28.
I started out with removing the pipes on the arms. There is a pin that needs to be removed on each arm so you can separate the arm and pop out the pipes.
Start by removing the screw on the forearms above the hand. Remove the hand assembly.
Next you need to take out the pin at the elbow. I use a Lisle 30280 automatic center punch to remove pins. It has a fine point so it works great. But you could probably use a pin punch or small nail and hammer if you wanted.
You'll need to push them from the outside (pipe side) inwards. The knurled side of the pin is on the inside elbow.
To make this a little easier you may want to remove the upper arm at the bicep swivel. To do that you need to remove the two screws on the inside of the bicep. Take note of the screw sizes, they need to go back the same way.
After a few strikes from the center punch you should be able to grab the pin and pull it out with a pair of needle nose pliers.
Now you can pull apart the forearm and remove the pipes.
Repeat with the other arm.
The rear pipes are easier. Pull the backpack out and unfold the wheel/exhaust section about half way. Swing the spoiler to the side. You'll see 2 screw that need to be removed. Again take note of the screw sizes.
Repeat with the other side as well.
Now that you have that done you'll need to repeat the entire procedure with your official MP-28.
Once you have all the chrome removed from both you can make the swap. The Chrome from the KO is pretty much a clean swap to the Official. You may have to open the rectangular slot on the forearms ever so slightly with either a exacto knife or small file. Also you may have to open the round slot a bit too with again a knife or small round file. Test fit before doing anything.
Now just put it him all back together.
You may have a small orange spot sprue mark on the KO pieces. A small dab of silver paint (I used model master) did the trick.
For good measure I added a few coats of Future.
Chrome Molotow ( I believe that's the name) pens work great on you him up the sprue marks too
I have to get another one of these. I like fiddling with him.
Wasn't there going to be a KO MP-28 version with a smaller backpack and better proportioned chest? Where's that at?
well, my rodimus came with the chrome problem, and honestly i dont hate it as much as i think i would, yeas is still a problem but it kinda looks like rust or something or should i say COSMIC RUST? ok maybe no, XD, i still wanna send him to a customizer here in my country to instead paint those pieces in metallic silver(but not chromed as i dont care about it), i got it at60bucks shipped, so yeah not a bad(or good) price to be honest, i still wanna get him a matrix
Are there any oversize versions yet?
