I can't decide if I'm happy that I just bought the real thing from a reputable dealer before the KO's became widespread or mad that I didn't wait for a half price bootleg.

Wow. I've been waiting for a KO to be announced for MP28 but didn't expect it to just suddenly be out. It's unusual for it to just appear suddenly, isn't it? Is this an actual KO or is it factory rejects?

 

It's been out for at least a month.

A seller in the Facebook groups had them the first week of December for $40 shipped.

 

In that case I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread on here before now. Has anybody gotten one in hand yet and commented on the quality?

Eh, screw it: I just went ahead and ordered it. I hope it's good but even if not, I'm only out $30 and I'm usually pretty good at fixing them up.

 

I'm not sure why it's not listed on TF-direct, but they were getting it in stock when I asked them about it back in Dec. I was kinda hoping for an announcement on Ratchet/Red Aleart (anime ver) too though before order the 3 KO deal  

 

Not that sudden, the MP10 shattered glass with trailer was literally ko'd almost straight away once it was released, and a few thought it couldn't be !!

Andn not talking about the KO SG that came out before the official one !!

So a KO Hot Rod was just inevitable...
Now, do I also wait for grapple ???

 

No, I have no doubt that any TF or 3P can be KO'd and KO'd well. I was just surprised because we knew about the MP-27 KO well before it released and then, with no warning whatsoever, here's MP-28. Don't get me wrong: I'm pleased that it's out. I was actually frustrated because it's usually one to three months from when a MP KO is announced until it's actually released and I've been impatiently waiting for MP28. I most prefer the S1 characters and some of the S2 but I was seven years old watching '86 TFTM over and over and Hot Rod was pretty much the main character of that so he's always had a special place in my heart... even if he did get Optimus killed  

 

There's been "factory stock" being sold for a while now (clear windows instead of official blue, so ditched by Takara). Who knows what this product is on Amazon, because they're just using standard stock photos.

 

There's a few more differences than just the clear windows. The front end of the car (side mirror flaps) tab in a lot smoother than the final release. The rear wing doesn't lock into position, the chest is a different shade of orange. These all came out before the official MP28 release so were likely from an early production run test

 

Especially if done by Wei Jiang.
