It's pretty awesome that it's finally available directly from a retailer. I imported one about a month ago, going through a Taobao reseller. I ended up paying about as much as Uncle Billy is charging, which is to say you probably won't be able to find one that's any less expensive.

Just a heads up: the set comes with the figure mostly assembled. The only work required are the chromed side mirrors, chromed windshield visors and rubbery windshield wipers if I recall correctly. Like the original kit, the clear windshields don't like to stay in securely. My set also came with a few broken pieces, including one of the heels and both abs that I had to order replacements for. You just have to be very delicate with this set and hope nothing gets damaged in transit.

    Couple photos including a comparison:

Why does this set cost more than the original authentic product? Is it just because it's assembled?

It's based on the official DMK 01, but has extensively remolded parts for screen accuracy. That combined with the fact that it's assembled and given a premium paint job nets the huge bump in price.

You can see the comparison shots with the original, albeit painted, DMK 01 here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.651218401630566.1073742140.407873945965014&type=3

Cool, thanks for that link! Quite a bit of weathering on the KO, looks really nice and really digging the remolded parts!

    I have one.

He is far, far superior to the official DMK release and probably a third of the pieces have been re-engineered for greater accuracy. The paint work is amzing.

I can't recommend this enough. If you're tempted, DO IT!

The only downside I can see is that the collar visors, rearview mirrors and wipers don't stay on (they come unattached to avoid breakage) and pretty much must be glued on.
