the box is hks, i dont think the insert or the toy is. now I see after investigating alittle, vnutz kept the hongkong special cyclonus because it was sealed and put it in the nicer real box, then put the real cyclonus and the real insert in the hong kong special box. thats why it didnt seem right. you'll never see that insert in a HKS sealed cyclonus.

A Hong Kong Special? As in a G1 Transformer that is sold in Hong Kong with the same box as the American format boxes, but is legit, right?

Ok so say I was to buy a real figure but it was in a KO box, does that make it less valuable or it doesn't matter what kind of box it's in a box?

it may make it less desireable, but its all in what you think. I personally dont buy G1 unless its immaculate and cheap, i come across some gems ever now and then going for cheap. but no, i would not buy these for what their real counterparts warrant in price, but if its cheap enough, i'd buy it and display it. I personally wouldve resealed the real cyclonus and just sold off the hks cyclonus, but hey, vnutz has his own priorities and opinions. and whatever he wants to do is cool. still a nice toy.

nothing can take value away from the figure unless the figure itself is damaged

just get some decent tape and line it up and display it in your box, if you do it right, it will look as good as new. i did it with my targetmasters, and they look sweet, even in person they look really good. some other people may have other ways to do it, but dont use superglue, it doesnt seal on cardboard, but the cardboard soaks it up, leaving behind dark spots.

theres too much speculation on this subject. until a hasbro rep says otherwise or you find me some links that dont contradict each other, then I will have to go with 80's=original release, 90's=unofficial release/remakes but not the same as today's KO's. people jsut have their own opinions on this stuff. all i'm saying is that he let the definate real one go. there you have it.
