    Alright here's a curly question for all of you TF experts out there. There is a guide to buying G1 Optimus Prime toys on eBay that claims that G1 original OP boxes should always have BLACK lettering on the back at the bottom where it says;

    (c) 1984 Hasbro Bradley Inc etc

    or

    (c) 1984 Hasbro Industries Inc etc

    Here is the link to the guide;

    http://reviews.ebay.com/How-to-spot-a-KO-G1-Optimus-Prime_W0QQugidZ10000000002127051

    I am wondering what truth there is to this and whether anyone can shed any light on this. I would say that 99% of the OP's I have seen on eBay claiming to be originals have WHITE printing.

    If this is true, that the printing is supposed to be BLACK, then it would suggest that 99% of the OP's on eBay are KO/counterfeit.

    Please Help!:confused:

    Cher

    Matt.

    Ebay:
    Based on the numerous threads about KO primes in the TF on Ebay forum, I'd take a guess that a huge percentage of MISB Primes on Ebay at the moment probably are KOs.

    I certainly wouldn't be buying a MISB Prime from ebay right now.

    "A knock off will have the top trim missing. The cardboard trim should connect all around the front of the box around the clear plastic guard."

    Absolutely not. This is a sign of a KO. A real G1 WILL NOT have a grey border around the window.

    That review is completely off. I'm almost sure this is a counter fitter trying to pass his goods as real. Anyways ...

    fake - not all stickers are applied (missing silver cab stripe)
    fake - the grey border extends around the entire window
    fake - factory crease running along the top flap
    fake - "Made In France". The only Prime carrying that tag has red feet.
    real - the grey border does not run around the entire window.

    also note the positioning on the "FORMERS" on both flaps.

    (edit: new pictures towards the bottom)

    talkin to me or him? :p

    the original one posted will make you purchase a fake thinking it's real.

    I'm sick of all of this. I'm making a guide now, including pretty pictures, and will publish it to eBay.

    That sounds like a great idea! I have been trying to write one for the past six weeks since I decided I'd like to start collecting TF's. Before I started buying I thought I'd try researching it a bit. The problem is there are so many versions of the truth that I keep having to rethink what I am doing.

    Also, the ko's grid becomes black halfway up, while the official's becomes black a third of the way up.

    instead of ticks and crosses, that pictorial totally needs some sort of TF KO expert mascot.

    I haven't studied the Swoop as much as the Prime. I'd be happy to with some direction.

    Does this mean the fake flap is smaller in height?

    not at all, but the KO'ers re-engineered the box's back. The box's dimensions are correct, but the scanned in image is zoomed a bit.
